That BIOS-password exists to protect you, should a thief gain posssession of your computer.

Find your original sales-receipt, to prove that you are the rightful owner, and telephone Toshiba.

Ask for Technical Support -- they can help you "nullify" that BIOS-password.

Quiero formatear mi laptop una toshiba portege

First , try letting "Windows Update" install new driver. Be sure to plug in any USB devices you want to use BEFORE you start Windows Update. That way ,Windows Update will detect these USB devices as well as your USB hub. Because it may be that your external USB device is the problem.

Tablet PC "seeing" networks, but not connecting

The first thing I would do is install is a PCMCIA wireless card. If you are able to log in to your network with the PCMCIA wireless card, I would be leaning towards replacing your internal wireless card.
Hope that helps.....

I bought this computer at a garage sale and it is

Try this:At startup, before you get the Windows splash screen, hit the F8 key to see if you can start in safe mode. If you can, the password for administrator may not have been set, in which case you can log on without entering one.Otherwise, you'll have to do a reinstall of Windows or, when starting the reinstall, when the computer says it's loading drivers, etc, you can press CTRL F10 and that should get you to the screen where you can see the passwords. Power on password locked

its some hard to do but maybe you can

. Your notebook
2. An empty formatted diskette (720 kb or 1,44 mb)
3. A second computer (e.g. a DOS desktop PC)
4. A hex-editor (e.g. Norton DiskEdit or HexWorks)

This is what you have to do:

1. Start the desktop PC and start the hex-editor
2. Put the disk in drive A:
3. Change the first five bytes of sector 2 (boot sector is sector 1) to: 4B 45 59 00 00
4. Save it! Now you have a KEYDISK
5. Remove the disk from drive A:
6. Put the disk in the notebook drive
7. Start the notebook in Boot Mode (push the reset button)
8. Press Enter when asked for Password:
9. You will be asked to Set Password again. Press Y and Enter.
10. You now see the BIOS configuration where you can set a new password

How to use the pen

Using the pen is quite simple.
You extract it from its storage space and use it as a mouse, left clicking it as you would a mouse.
By pressing the tip of the pen on an area on desktop or on an application window and maintaining the pressure for a short while, you activate the context menus (the equivalent of a right click.)

On the Windows task bar (for Windows XP) there is a small icon near the start button that shows a pen pointing outside: that is the input panel. Click the icon with a mouse or your pen, and an input area opens. In that area you write with the pen (writing Pad) or enter letters and symbols one at a time (Character Pad) or use a virtual keyboard.

Under the red X that closes the input panel there is a small gear. C;ick the gear with the pen or a mouse to configure the settings.

Your pen may have an eraser at the rear end and/OR on the side. It is used to erase characters or whole sentences.

To actually record (write) what you enter with the pen you must have a text-editing application open and running.
Whenever you approach the pen to the screen near a text-area (search area of IE or other compatible applications) a small icon appears to be clicked to enter text. This happens is you select UNDOCK in the input panel configuration.

This should get you started with the pen. Try these steps, and if you have any other questions post them as comments to this thread and it will be my pleasure to answer them.
