Should be able to have it replaced assuming it has failed; May need to order the part from Toshiba, but otherwise you can replace it yourself as the sensor should be modular in that it can be replaced; If you are not to tech savvy may want to bring this into a local PC repair shop.

BIOS passwords in modern portables require a master password to bypass/reset if the original password is lost forgotten. You will need to contact Toshiba Tech Support and if the system is not under current warranty that will probably require payment to resolve.

The internal wireless cards of these laptops are underneath the keyboard (remove the plastic strip above the keyboard, then 2 screws holding down the keyboard, then remove the Torx security screw holding the WiFi cover). See if the snow job might have gotten to it and perhaps corroded it? The stock WiFi card is an Agere MPC-13a/20 (MPC-13a/20R) model - widely available on eBay for $10 or less.
If it's too troublesome, a wireless card that plugs into your PC card slot is probably the cheapest solution.

Update all your windows drivers, update anti virus and run. Also I would suggest you download malware bytes anti malware which is a free software and run it. Sometimes trojans and or viruses could cause this problem. So to summarize, update drivers, run full anti virus scan, run malware bytes too. Hope this helps, any question please feel free to ask.Good luck.

Toshiba sp6000 512mb sdr 133mhz chips
These are the memory modules for your notebook, any others won't work. The max is 1024mb
You need these modules:
PC133 512MB (PA3108U-1M51)
PC133 256MB (PA3086U-1M25)
PC133 128MB (PA3085U-1M12)
If the modules you've installed meet the above criteria then make sure they are seated correctly.
Bear in mind it is always possible one of the modules is defective so try them one at a time, also they are non-eec.

Ghost failed
Find someone that has the Windows disk that matches your windows sticker. Install it and use your number. Then rebuild from there getting any drivers you need from the Toshiba website.
