I have a Toshiba satellite
It sounds as though your system is getting no power at all- try a second ac adapter. If that does not work, if in warranty, contact your technical support provider to get it serviced. If not, there is a good chance you will need a replacement motherboard- find a reputable technician and see about purchasing the replacement board. I’m happy to help further over the phone at

Satellite 1805-S253 PC Notebook: MY D DRIVE IS READING BUT STOPS. AND SAYS MY FILE ...
-
Hi, "first," restart the computer, and click on the "Start Button," in the (right pane) select to open the Computer. Check to see if there's a DVD RW Drive (D:) in the "Device: with (Removable Storage) area." If the area is (Blank)? Go to and select All Programs, scroll to find the Media Disk Player. You may need to Setup / Install the player, and "Update the Drivers," when the (install is completed) follow all the instructions. "Remember to always click on the Apply and OK buttons after making the changes, and lastly, restart the computer." "If the problem still exist, try going to the "Device Manager" from the Control Panel, [Roll-back, and or Update Drivers], restart the computer. Next, in a final attempt to fix the problem go back to the (Control Panel), and select from the "Update Options' "Let me Choose... To update the drivers Manually" this will in stall the "original" (Drivers) that came with the computer. "Rating the solution for its helpfulness is appreciated, thanks."

MY D DRIVE IS READING
This is a sign of a driver that really got corrupted , one thing that you can do here is to format and recover the files after doing the format and hopefully those files inside the drive are still intact and not fully damage or corrupted. So format the drive and once done download this software for recovering the files from the formatted drive its called Recuva you can download it from download.com and its for free. Install it to your computer and when you're already trying to recover the files enable the deep scan option.

Do not know video or audio cards.
Probably a Trident video card. Go into Control Panel>System and select the display adaptor right click and select update driver don't let it contact windows update. Thwe next step should then say this wizard helps you install software for and it will tell you the hardware. Repeat for the audio card.
If that doesn't work right click on the adaptor>Properties>Details>Hardware IDs and google the ven and dev data

Toshiba 1805 will not start up
The RAM may need reseating or it maybe faulty.
If reseating the RAM module/s doesn't work and if you have two RAM modules, then try one at a time.
You could take the RAM to your friendly shop and get them tested or test them in another laptop.

Toshiba Satellite 1805-s253 memory upgrade
Usually this means it supports 512 mb of "Single sided" ram, which is rarer and more expensive... the usual ram you buy now is double-sided.. which will often only see one of the sides in older machines.
