Kodak EasyShare Z740 Digital Camera - Page 5 Questions & Answers
How many photos will a 256 mb memory card hold on easyshare z740
That depends on two main factors: resolution and detail. The higher the resolution the more memory is required to store the additional pixels. The more detail there is in the scene, the more memory is required to store it. Consider a picture taken with the lens cap on. You could summarize the entire picture by saying "every pixel is pure black." Compare that to a wide picture of a field of colorful flowers, where nearly every pixel is different from its neighbors. Storing such a picture will take a lot more memory. The

Kodak z740 will not download pictures from camera to computer
Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as
Picasa.

What size memory card for a 5mp
The Z740 works with MMC and SD cards. MMC cards are all but extinct, but SD cards up to 2GB in size are still plentiful. You should be able to buy them at just about any department, electronics, or office-supply store. Just make sure you get SD cards, not SDHC or SDXC cards. The camera will work with all size SD cards. Obviously, the bigger the card the more pictures it can hold. Also, the bigger the card the more pictures you risk if you lose or break the card. One school of thought says get the biggest card you can and then be very careful with it. Another school of thought says get two or more smaller cards and spread the risk.
An unused memory card inserted
May be you inserted a memory card formatted with your PC or has some errors.
In any case, use the 'Format' function in the camera menu. (I guess you will be able to find it if you browse thru the menus). This will enable the memory card to be used with the camera.

Lens is stuck OF A
The only real solution is to replace the lens assembly unfortunately. You will have to contact Kodak, and it will be a very expensive repair. You would be better off replacing the camera sorry to say, and I would HIGHLY advise to stay away from Kodak for your next purchase.
