Cartridge Error 50C
Your print cartridge has shorted.

1. Power off your All-in-One and unplug it.
2. Plug in your All-in-One again and turn it on.
3. Uninstall and then reinstall your cartridges.
4. If this does not resolve the issue, try the troubleshooting steps for the other cartridge errors below.

Error: Black Cartridge Missing
The black cartridge is not installed. (Install cartridge PN 82)

Error: Color Cartridge Missing
The color cartridge is not installed (Install cartridge PN 83)


Cartridge Error
Complete the following instructions:

1. Power off your All-in-One.
2. Use both hands to lift up the scanner unit until the scanner support holds it open.
3. Turn the All-in-One on. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.
4. Remove the color print cartridge.
5. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
6. If the error message reappears, replace the black print cartridge with a new print cartridge.
If it does not repeat steps 1-3 and then go to step 7.
7. Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black print cartridge.
8. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
9. If the error message occurs again, replace the color cartridge.
10. If an error message reappears, repeat steps 1-3 and reinstall both print cartridges.
11. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
12. If you receive the error message again, replace both cartridges.

If not, upgrade the software, it might fix the issue.Unless call Lexmark.

If you go to your start button and go up to the printers.. Open the icon for your printer.. What is it's status???

You click "SEND" not "PRINT" to send an email.

Do you have a printer connected?

Before plugging in the USB cable you need to install printer software.

If you have the original printer disk install software from disk.

If you do not have the disk you must download the software from Internet, follow instructions below,

A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading, find the file,double click on the file ,then if you get in troubles, follow the instructions below to reset and reinstall drivers:

• Unplug printer USB.
• Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
• Download driver from website, or use the disk and run the install file.
  
• Follow driver installation wizard.
• Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.

Can you see the printer from the networked computer? Have you gone into the printer properties and set it to share? Right click on the printer in printers and faxes and select properties. Click on the sharing tab and clickn on the circle next to share this printer. (Windows xp)

Well first check to see if it was supposed to be part of the contents.  Usually one of the flyers or manuals included will tell you if it should have come with it.  If it wasnt to be included, the simple way to obtain one is to drive to wal mart, and ask them for a usb printer cable.

This driver will work for XP and Vista

Go to lexmark.com search drivers for your printer model and download the vista drivers. Note: be sure to follow the instruction they give you else it would install correctly.

Make sure you have all the recent microsoft updates.

If it still won't print you can use OpenOffice (Free to use and download) to open your documents with and maybe they will print from there. Using Open Office may change some formatting, but you can usually fix that pretty easily.

It seems that your problem is that you have not installed the drivers for your printer on your computer.

Your printer should start working after you install this.

The last driver that was developed for the 2050 is for windows 98. Don't know if it will work well with XP or Visa. But, here is the link:

go to the control panel and check it under printers and faxes make sure it set as default you will have a dropdown menu with thw options, also make sure it is not using office document imaging
