You need a Firewire/ SCSI adapter. Mine is a Belkin F5U541. Then simply connect a SCSI cable from the scanner to the adapter & a Firewire cable from the adapter to your Mac. This souns like a memory error, where the scan is too large for the pc to cope as other programmes running have taken their peice of your RAM, other than that, uninstall the diver in Add/Remove programmes, disconnect scanner. Re-install driver and re connect scanner when prompted and see if the fault goes away. Please rate solution.

This worked for me umax astra 5600 Hi First download driver from driver. Install with comparability in 2000 windows and run as admin,after installation go to device manager manually select driver from imaging devices and select samsung scx-....... the first one whatever comes there. Restart and rock.

please dont.go to www.drivers.com and get a prober driver.install,after the imac "henwise",and reboot.hope it helps.

Check if the light is on, while the scanned is busy by lifting the lid. If it is dark the lamp or the LED's don't burn and if so, I think you have to start saving for a new one.

The light in the scanner may be burned out so that the document is not being lit during the scanner process. If it is an old scanner I would suggest looking into buying a new one.
