Does your wireless router supply DNS addresses via DHCP or are they configured into the wireless adapter on the other computer? If the DNS addresses are configured into the working laptop's wireless adapter and not the router -- they may need to be configured into the wireless adapter of the new laptop. Is there a proxy server configured into the browser of the new machine that should not be there or does not match the working machine? Is the new laptop statically configured to an inappropriate IP address or gateway or DNS servers for the network you are attempting to use it on.

So if I understand you, you have an ethernet cable running from your DSL modem to the Internet port on the back of the Linksys router and then an ethernet cable connecting one of your computers to one of the numbered ports on the router. Is that correct?

If the above is correct, using the computer that is hooked to the router via the cable, open Internet Explorer and type the following in the Address Bar:

http://192.168.1.1

The Username should be left blank and the default password is "admin" with no quotes.

See what happens when you try this and let me know. This may take a few steps to get going.

what you should do is try another card on that computer and/or try the current card on another computer just to see if it is the PCMIA Card's problem

What kind of connection problems are you having? Is it telling you that your NAT is restricted?

the lights on router are not functioning..

Knowing Linksys products fairly well this an axact problems that I've had in the past. Sorry to say this but the internal circuitry has gone bad. If you call linksys thewy will do a cross ship exchange. Meaning if you give them a credit card they will send a new unit and you send the older unit. If your out of warranty they still sometimes do this out of courtesy. Thier tech support number is (800) 326-7114.

For the second guy, if the lights stay constantly lite it's the same problem

i think its wep or wpa password which u created in teh w/l router>connect a pc through hard wired on teh routers ether net port>and open a explorer>and in address bar type-(192.168.1.1)>enter>
user name--- admin- all lower case
password---- admin- all lower case
click on wireless-and click on wire less security>and change teh wep or wpa password and click on save settings>and reboot the router as well as laptop and use teh new password which u changed>rate me solved if its works

router is an external device which supports all os , all programs will work with routers..do not worry about it..

you have to check if your wireless network adapter works and if the setting are correct.. you can also try to create a new connection for this computer and be careful to set the correct network name and wep key..

Unplug the power cables of the router and the range extender for 30 seconds. Plug in the router first. Wait for all the lights to be stable then plug in the range extender. Your range extender should now be in synchronized with your router.

just fixed one yesterday. the power pack was no good.AC wall wart, power green LED blinked endless. and the white logo, LED is dead.. a new pack fixed it. also the wrong pack used, ! do not mix them up. oops. first year 54G, v1 uses 5vdc pack. at v2, and up all want to 12vdc pack, bottom sticker on above failed was v6. you said recognized, does that mean the 4 rear Ethernet wired jacks are dead, or just wifi dead.? first the ethernet ports must work, or wifi is doomed.
