Have it looked at - there is probably some chip that is burned out in the output section.

if the wires are sodered on to yhe ends of the fuse you can carefully cut them right at the fuse but i would hold my sodering tip on the weld and pull the wire off when the solder melts. Unfortunatly you would have to solder a new fuse back in being realy,really carefull about how long u leave the heat on as it could cook the fuse Sounds like a job for a repairman as you dont want to be frying anything else or altering a good amp and if they screw it up they have to take care of it. please let me know how it goes,im curious.

It is possible that you have issues with caps in the power supply...I would check those first...and you can get the schematics from Peavey....

Contact Peavey...They have no problem in releasing technical documentation....I always get info from Peavey...

There are a lot of possible problem areas it could be. I would first check that the speaker is working correctly. If so, I'd clean all jacks and pots. If that doesn't do it, it'll be time to take it to the shop.

I would think you can if the amp is rated for 4 ohms but the 4 ohm might be loader then the 8 ohm because it will get more power.

You could try Googleing it, if you havn't already. Another method I've used on other guitars was to carfully remove the neck from the rest of the guitar. Manufacturers often put the production year on a tag or even printed directly on the wood body under the interfacing part of the neck. Some risk= "what if I damage my guitar?"

Not sure about the KB-1, but many newer Peavey amps ( A Vyper for example) have the fuse soldered to the circuit board. If you're going to go through the effort of soldering, I'd suggest buying, and soldering in, a rear panel accessible fuse holder, so you only need to do it once.

Turn your guitar away from the amp's speakers. The pickups on the guitar are feeding the amp's signal back into the amp creating a feedback loop, especially with the gain button on. Loud volumes cause this looping path between the amp speakers and guitar pickups. You may need to reduce amp volume also.

What kind of casters are you installing? There are two types, ones that have a shaft sticking up from the base and ones that only have the flat base with four screw holes - I recommend using the flat base ones. There is no real easy way to open up the bottom of the cabinet as it is glued and then covered with the tolex or similar material. If you have the ones with a shaft I recommend getting the other type. The shaft has a socket you have to install in the bottom which makes them removable. There is no reason to remove the casters so get the ones that are screw mounted.
