Can't connect with microsoft MN-510 using WPA

This means that you have to enter the network key into your computer in order to connect to the network,
If you enter the password as hexadecimal characters, you must type exactly 10 characters (5 bytes) for a 40-bit key (valid characters are 0-9 and a-f), or exactly 26 characters (13 bytes) for a 104-bit key.
If you typed any number of characters other than 10 or 26, or any character that is not a hexadecimal digit, this is interpreted as ascii string.
In this mode, each character is a byte by itself.
So, valid length of the string in this case is either 5 or 13 characters.
If this condition is not met, the string can't be accepted as a valid password.
Please check carefully what you type. (Letter O instead if zero, or small L instead of 1 etc.)

If you don't know the key, you have to connect to the router via a cable and copy the key from there - or ask your Dad to give you the information. He will have it, because he has a working connection.

If you have any more questions or this is not clear ot you, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Upgraded internet speeds. with direct

Max wireless speed on that router is 11Mbps theoretical. That is an ancient router. Buy a new router N standard You will get the same wired or wireless. N standard with triple band will run at 480Mbps, dual at about 300Mbps and single at 150Mbps.

Can't figure out the ssid

Just log into your router if you need to know it's IP address. Go to the command prompt type ipconfig /all then look for the Gateway IP address input that into your web browser and then hit enter. Go to the Network Settings page and you will see you SSID and password.

If you can't remember your password reset your router back to it's factory settings by holding the reset button for about 5 seconds. For your model/brand of router the default IP address is 192.168.2.1 The default password is "admin" Once you are connected to your router simply run the Setup Wizard. Set your SSID as something you'll remember like "Mavericks Network" and your Password can be your phone number for example 3109876543.

I don't have my installation

Go to this Microsoft website:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;814445

...and read the instructions on this page. You will find a link on this page where you can download MS installation software.

"If you lose your Microsoft Broadband Networking CD and you have to install the software on a new computer, download the contents of the installation CD. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:" http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=33104 (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=33104)

(The first link is useful because it also includes instructions and a link to the firmware updates.)

Not able to connect to internet

1. try to check the status of the connection:
make sure it is connected and the status does not say either of the ff:
a. local only
b. limited or no connectivity
c. limited access only

2. try to change the network name [ssid] and the network key [wep or wpa passphrase]
you can change this by accessing the ipaddress of the router or its user interface

3.try to reconnect to the new network name
and make sure the status says connected.

this is not a browser issue . it is with the connection set up.

3. Left-click the "change advance settings"

4. A windows should pop up... now go to wireless tab and tick or bullet point "Let windows manage wireless connections"

If the wireless tab doesn't appear, the click start and Run then type services.msc then click OK.

Double-click Wireless zero configuration and set it to automatic then press apply and click start to start the service. Then try to do the instructions again.

If you're running on Vista, disable the wireless software provided by your wireless card manufacturer to enable windows to manage wireless networks. Then try to connect to your router again.
