If you was to turn the deck upside down you will see 4 main screws in the corners holding the silver top to the black chassis of the deck. undo these screws and carefully turn the deck over and lift the top off slowly. I say slowly because before putting it down (you might need someone to hold it for you) you need to un-clip the white plug and there will be a data ribbon stopping you from pulling the lid away. this is the strip you need to check both ends that the connections are clean and pushed in properly (the blue strip on the connector should be facing the middle of the circuit board) be careful not to snap the connector and make sure you push it into its socket straight and not at all at an angle or it could snap. put the white connector back in and pop the lid back on and turn it on to see if worked.

I had exactly the same problem. You need to press the "Track Push" knob when you have selected the track you want you can then hit "play" to play the track.

If you now hear rattling or scraping- the speaker voice coil is bad and should be repaired or replaced.If it sounds good, move back to each deck. apply your radio- volume turned down to an input it one is provided. Each should sound clean like the amp did. If no sound or distorted sound is found here- which is the most probable location, it is likely one of the IC chips is at fault. Likely a 4558 if an IC fault, otherwise suspect dirt or hair on the encoder connected to the spin platters.

/it's most likely a defective fader, but before replacing it, get a can of Deoxit5 or fader cleaner and spray inside the fader, then move it the full length os travel about 20 times to see it that clears it up.
