When I connect my computer

You have to enter the router password on every wireless device you want to connect to the internet. You usually only have to do it once per device, but it won't connect without the password. The password it's looking for may be on the label on the router or in the wireless setup page of the router.

I forgot my username and

Hello there.

To remove the username and password of your router you just need to reset it. Here is how to reset it:

1. Check the back of your router and look for the reset button (it is a small button inside a small hole)

2. Push it using a pin or anything similar, and hold it for about 15 seconds.

Now you can connect with it without any passwords.

Can't access settings page

the web page of your router cannot be changed by the isp, but what may have changed is your network cards ip address, as thats the only wat the router cannot be reached if you are on a different address route, so check that your card is 192.168.0.X, the last being different to the router. the only other way this may have happened is if you have used an installation disc and it has changed all address so that they are different to what the routers manufactured address is and therefore cannot be altered but is allowing a static ip address or mac addresses for internet connection. The outer may have simply froze out, and you may have to reset the router by way of a pin hole button at the rear of the unit or underneath or firstly try a restart by unplugging it.

I lost my CD

You can reset your Netgear router/wireless MR814 router to the factory settings from within the router manager. The reset procedure removes all user-configured settings and returns the router to the original factory settings. For this reason, only reset the router if you encounter problems that can't be solved with other methods.Step 1: Check that your Netgear router/wireless MR814 router is properly connected with your system or not. If it is OK, then press reset button on Netgear router for at least 10 seconds. The 'test' light should flash during this process.Step 2: Now open browser and enter Netgear's IP address into the address bar. Generally, '192.168.0.1' is the Netgear router IP address but you can find specific IP address in Netgear router manual.Step 3: Now enter your default username and password to log in to router.Step 4: Click 'Erase' button under the 'Revert to Factory Default Settings'. This process will erase all your previous changes that have been made to the router and restore the configuration settings to factory setting. Don't interrupt the process until the process is finished.Once the router's 'test' light has stopped blinking and the configuration page you are on has refreshed, the router has been reset. Setting up a password

Not sure which password you want to set up. The main default password for NetGear is "password". You can change that to about anything you want. If you ever forget it, there is a tiny hole on the bottom or back side that you push a paper clip end in. That will reset the router back to the original user name and password. which is... "admin" and "password" to sign in to your router.. Hope this Helps Fix Ya up.

I have a nieghbor who

you can change your wireless encryption password by going to internet explorer
http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1
the default login/pass
  • Username = admin
  • Password = password
    • For older devices, password = 1234
if this does not work you will need to reset your router by holding the reset button for 30 seconds or more when you power it on.
  1. Use an Ethernet cable to connect a computer to any one of the four LAN ports of the NETGEAR router.
  2. In a web browser, enter the router's IP address - either http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 by default.
  3. When prompted for a Username and Password, enter the default username and password (admin;password) unless you have already changed it. NETGEAR recommends changing the default password to increase the security of your network.

For Steps 4-9, refer to Figure A below.
  4. Select Wireless Settings from the Setup menu in the left-hand navigation bar.
  5. Under Wireless Network, enter your desired network name in the Name (SSID) box.
  6. Under Security Options, select WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES].
  7. Under Security Options (WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK), enter your desired network password into thePassphrase box.
    • WRITE DOWN or KEEP NOTE of your network name, security option and passphrase - you will require them to connect wireless computers and devices to your network.
  8. Click Apply to save the settings.

I am trying to set

Get the directions from NetGear, for free, and use their install wizard.
Here are the (generic) highlights of what needs to be set:

Wireless Router

It is usually easiest to run the install wizard, but be sure to be ready to set the items listed below.

Things to set:

Note: Routers are intended to be set by geeks. You have to SAVE EVERY page, or the changes will be lost. A geek knows this (apparently). The router gives no protest...just dumps your changes.

1. Login password (RECORD THIS!!). Consider taping to bottom of the router. Physical access is not the security issue.

2. Set a recognizable system ID.

3. Invoke wireless security of at least WEP.

a. Assign your own access code, 10 digit home or cell #. Consider taping to bottom of the router. Physical access is not the security issue.

4. Check that your router is set to broadcast its' presence.
