It need username and pasward what should i type ?

If the router is new and has not had the default userid/password set by the consumer, then the username is "admin" and the password is "password". Otherwise, you must know the current settings. If you have purchased this device used and do not know the current settings, you can reset the Router to the factory defaults by pressing and holding the reset button (on rear of unit) for approximately 10 seconds (until test LED turns on).

Don't know how to hook up my router kids unpluged.

This is an easy fix. The back of the router has a single power jack and 5 jacks for network cables. 4 of the jacks are grouped together on one metal "plate" and are called LAN or "Local Area Network" jacks. The 5th jack is removed from the others slightly, and is by itself on its own metal "plate" closest to the antenna. This jack is called the WAN or "Wide Area Network" jack.

Disconnect the power cord if not already unplugged.

The WAN jack (closest to the antenna) should be connected to your DSL or cable modem output with a cable long enough to stretch between the two.

The LAN jacks should be connected to the computer(s) network jacks in your home that do not use a wireless connection.

Once everything is connected, turn on the DSL or cable modem (if not on already). After 30 seconds, power up the WGR614. After 30 seconds, you should see the power light on, the test light (a check mark) should be off, the wireless light (the antenna) may be on or off (depending if you configured it to be on before) and the internet light should be on or blinking (it's the icon next to the "1" light). If the internet light is off, check the WAN jack and cable back to the modem and make sure the modem is on.
After the internet light is on, turn on the wired computer(s). The 1, 2, 3, and 4 lights will flicker when computer(s) are on and connected to the 1, 2, 3 or 4 jack(s).

I hope this was helpful!

Can't get a link when trying to turn a Netgear router WGR614v8 into access point with a xfinity SMCD3GNV as the host router.

Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net/ or http://www.routerlogin.com./ Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed. If you cannot log into your router: Unfortunately, there is no way to recover a lost or forgotten password from a router or access point; you will need to reset the device to factory defaults. however, once the device is reset to factory defaults, you can use the default username ("admin") and password (either "password" or "1234" depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings. If it is not visible, you can change your wireless passphrase; however, changing the passphrase will cause you to lose your wireless connection. Connect your computer to the router with an Ethernet cable before entering a new passphrase into the text box and Clicking Apply. If there is a small hole in the front or back of the router push a hair pin in to reset to factory settings.

Dropping in and out

CONTINUAL DISCONNECTION OF WIRELESS CONNECTION There are a few things that can cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router. 1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move the wireless router away from brick or concrete walls, mirrors, fish tanks and if possible locate the wireless router higher up. 2. Have you secured your wireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? i.e. change the default password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID, and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC address filtering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s to connect to your wireless router. 3. You could be getting interference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arc welders, washing machines etc. If so, the power supply to the wireless routers and computers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, better still connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply). 4. Check the channels of the wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcast channel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currently used but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interference with your wireless router from other wireless routers and access points in your area.

Are you talking about your Wi-Fi password? If so, you may be able to reset it using the administration panel. If you have a Ethernet network cable lying around, connect your computer directly to the router, open your web browser and type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar. Under "Wireless Settings" you should be able to choose a new Wi-Fi password.

Netgear router wireless loses connection

1. Many wireless routers are using the same wireless channel. Many manufacturers choose channel 6 as the default. Change to another channel. 2. Analogue video senders used to send audio and video to other TVs in the home. 3. Microwave ovens emit interference in the 2.4GHz band. 4. Wireless speakers and console controllers can cause interference with the wireless router. 5. Bluetooth devices, newer Bluetooth devices can jump to different frequencies if there is a connection problem. 6. Power cables located near the wireless router can cause dropouts and speed reduction. 7. Fish tanks and mirrors will cause massive Wi-Fi shadow on the other side of the tank from the wireless router. 8. Depending upon the location of large mirrors will reflect wireless signal away your computer. 9. Building materials will block wireless signals such as plasterboards with metal foil, reinforced concrete walls and floors. Also objects near the wireless router such as metal filing cabinets and other electrical appliances. 10. Blinking Christmas lights can reduce Wi-Fi performance by 25% when it is close to the wireless router.
