Win7 32bit doesn't have this feature, only win7 64.

Hi, I realize now that if I unplug the tascam from the computer and plug it back in after it's been asleep, it's starts up again without having to shut my mac down. So I've solved my own problem. Thanks!

That's going to depend. What you really need are the drivers. If it's not detecting them automatically, try going here: http://tascam.com/product/us-122/downloads/ and downloading the drivers, although it does not seem they have any drivers available for any Windows versions beyond XP

how many bit operating system are you using 64 or 32 bit ?
if you have a 32 bit this hardware might use 64 bit you could try these

This device is made for windows 95- Vista. There are no officially supported windows 7 drivers yet so if you are running windows 7 you may run into issues. The unit draws power from your USB port and will not work as good if plugged into a passive USB hub so make sure to plug it directly into a USB 2.0 port on your PC / MAC.
I suggest downloading the latest drivers from the internet as the CD drivers pay be outdated.
