My 8GB pen drive is

Hi jamali4016,
On your drive there should be a small switch that physically locks the drive or unlocks it. Please slide the switch to the unlock position (the one its not in now) and this should resolve the issue.

If after moving the switch it still claims to be locked the company requests you contact them or return it to the retailer from which you purchased this as it is a manufracturing defect. The following link will take you directly to the Transcend's web site's Tech Support submission form just in case you need it.

The pen drive indicates write

Three possible sources for this problem, and three separate solutions.
The following procedures assume your flash drive is assigned by MSDOS to drive E:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PROBLEM 1: Pen drive write-protect switch set
SOLUTION: move the tiny switch on the pen drive from the icon of a padlock locked
toward the icon of a padlock unlocked
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PROBLEM 2: MSDOS attribute set incorrectly on any/all files on pen drive
HOW TO DISPLAY CURRENT SETTING: START > Run... > cmd
C:\> E:
E:\> attrib /S /D

HOW TO FIX WRITE-PROTECTION PROBLEM: START > Run... > cmd
C:\> E:
E:\> attrib -r /S /D
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PROBLEM 3: REGISTRY set incorrectly (targeted by virus or other malware)
HOW TO DISPLAY CURRENT SETTING: START > Run...> cmd
regedit
display HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ CurrentControlSet\Control \StorageDevicePolicies

The valid values for this are 0=Disabled (meaning READ/WRITE), and 1=Enabled (READ only)
HOW TO FIX WRITE-PROTECTION PROBLEM: START > Run... > cmd
regedit
set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
to a value of 0 (Disabled)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A fourth way to "Fix" the write-protection problem would be to reFORMAT the flash drive, but
this "solution" merely resets the ATTRIB characteristic of the top-level directory of the
flash drive (while erasing all files on the flash drive), which is done better with the ATTRIB command,
and completely fails to address the possible write-protect switch or Registry issues.

Write protected usb32GB how to

1.Look for a switch or button on the side of the micro SD card or adapter. It might have a lock/unlock symbol on it. 2.Move the switch to the "Unlocked" position to remove write protection. This position may also be labeled "R/W" for read/write. If you have no switch, continue to Step 3. 3.Download and install Sony EzRecover and attempt to use it to format the card (this will erase all content). If this doesn't work, try Step 4. 4.Delete and repartition the micro SD card using Windows XP. Select "Control Panel" > "Administrative Tools" > "Disk Management." Select the micro SD drive and click "Delete." Right-click on empty drive and select "New Partition."

When i insert transend pendrive

VIRUS OR TROJAN INFECTIONS:

Virus or trojans can run some process that keeps running in background. This not only harms the computer, but also prevents the pen drive from formatting as it shows that the drive is in use. Remove and re-insert thepen drive, don't double click on drive and cancel autorun operations if it starts automatically. Run a virus scan on pen drive, this will help fix the issue. Now format the pen drive.

CORRUPTED FLASH CHIPS ON PEN DRIVE:

If the pen drive is not detected at all, or shows a less capacity, then there are high chances that its a chipcorruption. Flash chips are the actual hardware components that save the data. A physical or electrical or electromagnetic damage to these chips make the pen drive faulty. This can happen because of voltage fluctuations and faulty USB ports. In such case, get the flash drive replaced if its under warranty as it can not be fixed otherwise.

FAKE PEN DRIVES:

Sounds a bit un-believable but true. There are a lot of pen drives in the market which are of very cheap quality which are fake copies of some known brands. Beware of such pen-drives. Always purchase pen-drives or memory-cards from a reliable source with bill and warranty to avoid any mess later.

How to remove the overwrite

Write Protection on any portable USB Device can be applied by the physical lock provided on the card adjuster or some times provided on the pen drives, so make sure to make your drive not write protected by moving the lock in right direction.

But even after moving the physical lock for write protection the problem can happen due to some virus action. This happens when some virus or script which applies the registry hack to make any drive write protect when connected to the computer, In that case follow the procedure below to remove write protection from your pen drive.

1. Open Start Menu >> Run, type regedit and press Enter, this will open the registry editor.

2. Navigate to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

Note: If the registry key StorageDevicePolicies key does not exist, you will need to create it

Download this batch file called add.bat from here, and double click after download the key will be automatically added to registry.

3. Double click the key WriteProtect in the right pane and set the value to 0 in the Value Data Box and press OK button

4. Exit Registry, restart your computer and then again re-connect your USB pen drive on your computer. That is it, done.

My usb transcend jf v30

Hi there,

Step1:-:-
You can remove write protection from your usb flash drive using the below method:
1. Open start menu, in the search bar type regedit and press enter. This will open the registry editor.
2. Navigate to the following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
Note:
If the registry key StorageDevicePolicies does not exist, you will need to create it manually.
3. Highlight StorageDevicePolicies, and then create a New DWORD (32-bit) Value named as WriteProtect.
4. Double click the key WriteProtect in the right window and set the value to 0 in the Value
Data Box and press OK button
5. Restart your computer and try copying files into your USB drives.

Registry Disclaimer:-
Sometimes this problem is caused by two Windows registry entries that have become corrupted. To fix the problem, you have to use Registry Editor to delete the corrupted registry entries.
However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, follow the steps as in the KB Article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/

Step2:-
If the issue persists, check what happens in safe mode.
Here are the steps to boot the computer into safe mode:-
1. Remove all floppy disks, CDs, and DVDs from your computer, and then restart your computer.
Click the Start button; click the arrow next to the Shut Down button, and then click Restart.
2. Do one of the following:
•If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you'll need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.
•If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to highlight the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.
3. On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight the safe mode option you want, and then press Enter. For more information about options, see advanced startup options (including safe mode).
4. Log on to your computer with a user account that has administrator rights.
When your computer is in safe mode, you'll see the words Safe Mode in the corners of your monitor.
Refer this link for more information.
"Start your computer in safe mode"
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Post back if it is not working we will be happy to help you.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!!!!
