Main PCB, where "PCB" stands for Printed Circuit Board. If this board is bad, the printer will not function properly and it will need to be changed. This is a job for a printer technician. You can call your local Office supply companies to find an authorized repair station that will give you a quote to fix it. If you are curious, you can look up the part on the Brother website or other printer parts companies that are on the internet and get a price on the part itself and if you feel competent to change the part yourself and maybe save some money. Be aware that changing this part is not for the faint-hearted. It might be cheaper just see if the printer is still under warranty. Good luck.

Brother has the drivers for most of their printers on their support site. For the HL-2270DW, go to http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/us/us/en/dlf/download_top.html?reg=us&c=us&lang=en&prod=hl2270dw_all . What OS does your computer have? Select your OS and then your language. Click on the Search button. The Full Driver and Software Package should be the first one listed after the search. This is the version for most users. Just click on the Download & Information link. Then click Download. Look further down the page for the stand-alone drivers. If you have another driver installed (for example, the Windows USB driver for a locally connected printer), uninstall the driver first. If it's the Brother driver, use the Brother uninstall tool. Otherwise remove the printer in the Devices and Printers Control Panel. (Click Start > Devices and Printers. Right click on the printer and choose Remove.) Then remove the USB cable if connected to the computer. This can be caused by 3 different things.

1. Fuser failing to \'fuse\' the toner to the page.
   1. Check Paper Settings make sure they match the paper you are using. Plain Paper is 80gsm standard paper. If they do not match your paper then change the setting to make sure they match and see if the problem persists.
   2. Fuser not operating at the correct temperature for the machine. Replace the fuser. As with any heating element they can fail and this requires a replacement fuser to be procured and put in.
2. Poor Toner Quality.
   1. If you are using remanufactured products or compatible products these may have been filled with a toner that is not designed for your machine thus not fusing to the page properly. Contact the supplier of your products to have them fix the offending cartridge/s.
   2. If you are using official Brother products then you may have received a bad batch of cartridges. They do happen just not very often. As with any mass produced product a failure rate is factored into the manufacturing and all the random testing in the world won\'t pick up on all issues.
3. Damp Paper.
   1. Try opening a new ream of paper and see if the problem persists. If it doesn\'t continue using the new paper then look at where you store your paper to alleviate the absorption of moisture from the air. A warm dry place is best to store paper in and always reseal the outer covering of a ream of paper if you don\'t put the full ream into the printer.

Because the same problem is occuring amongst several people I would hazard a guess that you are all using cartridges from the same supplier which would indicate option 2. These problems may just be coincidental however and all 3 things may be happening amongst all your acquaintances.

No matter what you do as correctly all the above who answered, its a matter of the envelope. Envelopes are not steady media as in one side they have different thickness and friction. You need to try several in order to find a suitable and still you may have problem. There are special machines to print on envelopes
