did you buy some elses junk and now you are trying to fix it.its more than you can handle unless you have the equipment.

try some canned air on the final to cool it down .If the radio comes on then you have the problem child.

need to get a watt meter hooked up to then go the where the final is and look aroung for a tuning slug marked L38 and that is the baby you have to turn in order to power down this radio.

very easy,replace the diode you just burnt and hook your power up correctly and you should have no problem.

it could be the diodes that operate it that are burnt.

this rado has this problem and to fix it you should have the meter replaced.

turn squelch all the way to left.turn RF gain all the way to right.Turn mic gain all the way to right.Turn radio on low and then adjust volume.It should come on and transmit Could be a broken tx wire in mic.If it still doesn't come on take it to a tech.

put on a different mic and see if it still happens.I am going to attempt to draw an insert so if it works follow it if it doesn't I'll explain it. this wire is the audio on the inside of mic -------------------------------X-------(4700ohm 1/4 w res) ----X--------- .001 .001 this wire is the shield -------------------------------X-------------------------------------X---------- at the point marked with X take two .001 capasitors and wire them from one wire to the other. this should make your squeal go away.

before you go thru all the trouble of wireing it ,what kind of radio did the desk mic come from.If it came from a galaxy then you shouldn't have to change a thing. 5 pin to 5 pin try it then if you have to wire it.

when you are not talking the light should be an aqua / green color.When you transmit it should turn red. if you see two red lights your antenna is out of match.As for your radio not get out you have to get a friend to listen on another radio and he will tell you if its working or not.

used radio ? If so some one tried to hook a toy into it to make it sound that way. Take the bottom cover off to look inside to see if there is any extra baggage.

you have somthing backwards but there is a cure.

Check xtal X1 (7.3450 MHZ). It's in the am osc. I had exactly the same problem. I live in a highly corrosive coastline area

check tr 51 (Q 51) the sb754 on the back side mounting of the radio.. the center pin (collector) of this modulator ic should not be 13 volts. my bet is that it is.. this test is done in am mode.. not sideband.
depending on you carrier setiing it should be between 3 -8 volts any higher in am mode and my bet is that its bad... much more common than the finals in this radio. good luck Rick

turn the SWR/CAL/S-RF switch and set it back to S-RF

best way is to leave the radio in piece and obtain a linear amplifier to do the job a 10 meter ham radio amplifier will do nicely but you must re-tune it for the 27 mhz band 10 meter band is 28 mhz. RF amps work best using side-band mode.
