Welcome to Fixya. Make sure that you are using a computer that is connected to the router using ethernet cable. If still fails you can reset the router by pressing the reset button at the back of the router for 5-10 seconds using a pen or paper clip and make sure that the router is on.

Unplug the router then plug it back in after about 20 seconds.

Try just unplugging the router for 20 seconds then plug it back in.

Try resetting the router. If it does not work then you will have to update the firmware of the router. To do that you have to download the firmware file of the router ( it will have an extension of .bin). Save the file in your pc and go to the router's page and update it. It will look for a .bin file. Browse to the location where you downloaded the firmware and update.

Seems like a router going bad for me since the problem doesn't happen when you directly connect to the modem. Try a router reset, however.Good luck

I have the same setup. My router is in the basement right below as well. Nothing works better than direct wiring... if you can, consider drilling a hole in the floor (near the wall) behind the TV and BluRay, and run an ethernet cord directly from the player to the router. Ethernet cables are cheap as dirt online, and not too bad at big stores like Home Depot.

HERE is the link directly from Belkin for the drivers to your wireless router. The only information you will need to put in to get the correct driver is the version number. There is a link on that same page to tell you how to find the version number.In box 1 select "N" In box 2 select F5D8235, then in box 3 select your version number.

then enable Broadcast SSID. This is the name of your wireless connection. You can name it anything.
You can also put WEP password to prevent others to connect to it.
tell your son to scan for network access again, then chose the name of the wireless connection you chose with the password.

Here is a link to a list of default router IP's, match the brand on your router to one on the list, and type the IP address into your internet explorer (or other web browser) address bar, login with your details (default or personal) and check your wireless settings for activity or problems. Alternately try unplugging power from your router for 5 seconds and plugging it back in to reset it (do not use the reset button on the back of the router)

2. Open a web browser on the computer.
3. In the address bar of the web browser, type http://192.168.2.1 and press Enter on your keyboard.
4. Click Login in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The router does not ship with a password, so just click Submit.
   
5. Click on "Channel and SSID" in the left-hand column under the Wireless heading.
   
6. The router may be set to auto for the channel selection. This means that the first time the router is powered on, it will automatically select the channel that has the least amount of interference. As surrounding networks are added, the initial channel may become crowded. Use the drop-down list and select a new channel for your router.
   Note: Channels 1, 6, or 11 are the best selections.
   
7. After setting the channel, select the SSID box by clicking in it.
   
8. Type a name that is familiar to you. This is the name of the wireless signal on which your router will broadcast.
9. Once these changes have been made, click the "Apply Changes" button toward the bottom of the screen.
   

Visit Belkin Official Support - F7D4301 Downloads There are two versions of firmware available. Version 4 and Version 1. To downgrade your router firmware, use version 1 firmware. I hope this will resolve your issue.

ok... so I've now installed this on my new pc that i built... first in order to get it to install at all you must download DirectX 7.0 and right click to "--(edit compatibility settings to windows 98/Me and run as administrator)--" remember this as well be doing it a few times. once you do that install DirectX 7.0 and say yes to all. now that this is installed take the .iso file you have and burn it to a cd or DVD-r, once burned you need to go to my computer and right click on the cd/DVD drive, select open (NOT open autoplay), inside the disc menu i want you to go to 2 files... "setup" and "start" need to also have their compatibility settings changed to the above settings. now that these are set stay in the cd menu and double click "setup" this will take you through the setup procedure. after the setup procedure is finished do not view the notes, and continue back to the desktop. now from your start menu load the game and it should run
