You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password and privileges. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. When you boot up to the log in screen type in administrator as user to log in if you cant log in

This usually happens when you upgrade HP Support Assistant, the upgrade changes the product model, serial and product number and enters the information into the BIOS. When the system restarts you get the "Serial number not found" message usually in the top left hand corner.

As far as I know there is no down-loadable "fix" for this but HP are aware and are working on a solution for the problem which you can download and apply. However, this, i heard was for Win 7. I'm not sure about Vista or XP, you'll have to check with HP.

The most common action people have had to take was to send the laptop to HP and they would reprogram the BIOS chip with the correct information. I don't know if they were charged for this though although common sense would dictate that HP should take responsibility because the update was from them in the first place.
Other people have also said they would download the correct BIOS version from the BIOS manufacturers website and flash the BIOS themselves. Not one of these people have reported their results so i'm taking that as bad because if a BIOS flash goes wrong it could render the laptop useless making it an expensive door stop.

I would suggest that you let HP deal with this problem or at least contact them and ask them what they intend to do about this problem and when will a fix be released. I would also ask them if they would repair the error for free if you are not satisfied with what they tell you.

I think you have a broken USB keyboard or USB port. Simply plugging in the keyboard should be enough to make it work. First try the keyboard in a different USB port. Test the caps lock to see if the LED goes on and off. Also try a different keyboard and also test it in a different computer.

what computers.?? 1000's of models over 30 years. made F10 is BIOS screens, so if that works, BIOS. and any screen then the PC is not booting. try booting to CD? *(a free linux live cd?) as a test. if that works run HDD tests. next ill stop here, if you can get this far, we go to next step F11 HDD reload the OS, if PC is 2006 or newer from HP.
