I trying to hook up

What you have hooked up(y,pb,pr) is component video which carries the video. The sound is trnasmitted through a different cable, RCA(white and red) probably in your case. You need to make sure taht your component connections are in all the way and are making contact and, taht all three are in the correct inputs on the flat screen. It is easy to confuse the colors and all the connections are close together making it easy to make a mistake, I've done it myself. Once you have established your connections are correct, make sure you go through your TV's menu to make sure you are the right menu screen(TV,DVD, etc.)

Hello
Just unlock its Parential contol and reset the TV. NB: You must have its original remote control handset to proceed. If you haven't it with you, just boroww it from somone you know, who have the same model number of Tv; just to unlock it. After unlock, you can use universal remote or so.Proceedings are:
Most GE TV sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The code reset procedure is different depending on the model. Try each method until you find one that works:
  1. Hold down MENU on the remote and VOLUME DOWN on the TV it's self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
  2. Hold down the 0 on the remote and the VOLUME DOWN buttons on the TV its self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won

I have had a GE

In the system there is a reading eye.Which reads the discs which you insert. This eye is called "lens".If this lens gets weak or dusty then it will not read the disc .As a result it will stop the disc in between and freeze or vice versa. In this case the lens needs to be cleaned and checked. For that the dvd unit needs to be disassembled and checked. But if lens is clean inside then its a weak lens issue ,its by age of the unit.In that case it has to be replaced.

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

I got a new sony high Def TV Hooked it up and now

Return it to the store. Once set, you cannot reset the region unless you search far and wide for the hack to reset. The hack usually requires you to push a series of buttons on the front panel to pick new region.

Won't play dvd's that I have burned even if decrypted or converted before burning.

Hi,

Most players of this type have 2 laser eyes, 1 for CD and another for DVD. Based on your description, I would venture a guess that the DVD laser eye is at fault. If the unit was playing DVD before and the problem just occurred recently, then perhaps, cleaning with the use of a CD cleaner (similar to the ones used for computer CD ROMs) would correct the fault.

Should this not be the case, you may need to seek the services of a qualified audio technician who can either perform a manual cleaning (involves opening the unit) or diagnosis and repair if required. I am hesitant to suggest that you venture a do-it-yourself as this require working with a live/powered unit when performing tests and diagnosis.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

I can't watch movie

Maybe it's a zone issue. try putting a different DVD from a local video store and see if it plays. Your device might be playing only a certain format.
