Kenwood Sirius KDC-MP819 CD Player - Page 7 Questions & Answers
Whenever I step on the brakes, my car's stereo system turns off. I've done all I can, and am now looking for help please.
Hi Trey, i understand that you not a technician, what i do advise is to first get your head unit bench-tested, have all the output channels and currents checked thouroughly.
If that doesnt sort the problem then try a different head unit as a process of isolation.
If the problem still persists with a new head unit, then the problem is definitely with the points of connection from the head unit, OR you may have a weak battery.
The amplifier will not bring on a miswire fault in the head unit.
Cheers.

push and hold rest bull with a small pin and the unplug unit for ten second then try power up again
I just bought a Kenwood radio from another person not a dealer and I don't have a security code for the Kenwood 6140 the person I bought it from doesn't know either
Typically those car radios have an embedded (on circuit board) chip which is a flash EEPROM type memory. And this chip stores data which was programmed even if power is removed to the system. It also cannot easily be erased. They engineer this on purpose because any workaround to there anti theft system would defeat the purpose of having it so. Um I'm 99% certain without that code you basically have a brick which won't power on. And nothing you can do can change that. Perhaps and engineer or something could replace the chip or I have heard of ways to wire in and basically short certain leads causing the chip to delete it's memory without actually destroying it but that is engineer level stuff. Buyer beware I would definitely get a refund on that. A quick Google search of Kenwood 6140 password comes up with this to confirm what I already know about this technology. Also with 4 digits there are 10000 different combinations.
