I turned down the volume on my kdc-mp522, when i
that is kind of strange and if your getting power to put a cd in but no for it to fully power the unit you may need to check another fuse it will be not be your radio fuse but instead a mini fuse in your vehicles cabin should be on the left side under neith the dash or on the side of the dash it will most likely be a 10 or 15 amp mini fuse that supplies power from the fuse box to the reiceivers acc source ignitions source

Many Kenwood radios are configured with the same security codes:
KCAR - This seems to be a "backdoor" to some Kenwood models.
3051 - This is the security code which is printed in the manual of many Kenwood models.
1234 - This is a security code commonly chosen by Kenwood owners.
Entering Your Kenwood Security Code
If the car battery fails or is disconnected, the Kenwood will ask for the security code.
The
procedure to enter your security code differs on various models of
Kenwood car stereos. Here are three of the more common procedures:
Type 1
During
the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and
hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds until the "..." display
disappears.
Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
Type 2
Press the "Auto" button and "Track up" on the face of radio at the same time until the four dash lines disappear.
Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
Type 3: Model# DPX-4020 and DPX-4030
Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset keys until the display shows the letter 'C'.
Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
Entering Letters on your Kenwood Remote
To
enter a letter using your Kenwood remote, press a button once for the
first letter, twice for the second letter, and three times for the
third letter -- then press the Track Up or Next Track key to send the
letter.
To send the letter 'A', press the 2 key once and then
press the Track Up key. To send the letter 'B', press the 2 key twice
and then press the Track up key.
Finally, when you are done entering all of the letters, press and hold the Track Up button for 3 seconds.
The key sequence to enter the security code KCAR is:
5

Track Up
Your Kenwood should then enter tuner mode.
A Security Code Bug in some Kenwoods
There
is a reported bug in the security code handling of some Kenwood
stereos. In models with thie bug, the security code is stored
incorrectly. The workaround is to enter the wrong security code.
In
models with this bug, you have to decrement the third character of the
security code by one. If your security code was 1111, you would enter
your security code as 1101. If your security code was 9999, you would
enter 9989.
Very weird Radio Tuning Problem
This is a USA model and by default in the USA all FM stations end in an Odd number. This is completely normal. you can try holding preset 1 and 5 down while pressing the reset button on the unit and it may allow you to switch to a Europe style of tuning.
Kenwood mp522 cd skips
If your lasers eye is dirty the just use a cd/calibrater disc They are cheap and the have a small brush with hairs on the disc that clean the surface of the eye.

It is those 8 you identified for your model number. It is not the exact same number of resistors for every model. In fact, it is possible that it may not be the same solution for your model, but it probably is. You may have been looking at the solution for the same problem on a different model number. I can not remember 100% right now and if I were at work I could look it up on some old service tickets to make sure it is the same solution or not. Right now I am off of work for the next month or more rehabbing my neck, I just had surgery on it a couple of days ago.
It really is easy to resolder those resistors, just put a very small amount of solder on each one. Put the hot iron on the solder pad, just touch it with some solder, then go to the next solder connection. All 8 of the resistors need some fresh solder and you did identify them all, I can tell by how you explained it. I have done this repair many times, but I forget sometimes exactly which model numbers it is the valid solution for. I work on so many different model numbers of Kenwood car stereo's and it makes if difficult sometimes to be certain. Since you have the surface mount resistors and they are as you described, it should be the correct solution for your problem.
Let me know how you do with it, I would send a picture if I had one, but I don't.
Good luck,
Dave
No Sound
The audio not coming out from the speakers is normally the amp IC being bad.
If you have a bad speaker it could shut down the amp IC, but normally it will make the amp IC go bad if a speaker gets shorted.
Try disconnecting one speaker at a time and see if the sound comes back on any of the speakers. If so, you just found your bad speaker.
Or if you have a multimeter you can just check the speakers resistance. Each speaker should measure around 3.5 ohms to 4 ohms if it is normal.
Do the RCA jacks have audio? If you have a sub woofer connected to the radio, you would be able to hear the bass from it if the RCA jacks are working.
The reason I ask is, if you have no audio from the RCA jacks you may not have a bad amp IC.
You may have a bad electronic volume IC.
Are there any problems with the tuner locking in on stations?
The reason for this question is, the FM MPX is also part of the electronic volume IC.
If you plan on trying to repair it yourself, the first thing to check would be the voltage on the speaker outputs. If you have a voltage meter you would ground the black lead to the chassis of the radio or if the radio is still in the car ground it to the chassis of the car and then put the red lead on each one of the speaker leads. You can do this in the car at the speakers, but the radio must be turned on to check it. The speaker leads should all measure around 6.5 volts to 7.5 volts. When the output amp IC is bad one or more of the speaker leads will measure much less than 6.5 volts or much more than 7.5 volts.
If you have decent soldering skills this is an easy job to complete.
The part number for the amp IC is TA8273H
The easiest place to find it would be at a service center for electronics. If they don't have it they can order it for you from one of their distributors. Most service centers will do this for you. The one I work at does.
You will need to take the radio completely apart, the amp IC is the part that is screwed right up against the big heat sink on the back of the radio
.
If the amp IC is good and the electronic volume IC is bad, you will need to have excellent soldering skills to replace it. It is a surfaced mounted IC called a flat pack with 44 pins on it spread out around the 4 sides of the IC.
Do not try to replace this if you have no experience in replacing surface mounted flat packs, you will most likely damage the circuit board and make the radio un-fixable.
The part number for the electronic volume IC is TDA7411.
Without having the radio in front of me to do more troubleshooting, this is the best I can tell you.
Since you have checked all the wiring and and disconnecting the speakers did not help you will need some expert troubleshooting to find the problem.
Repair shops would normally charge about $100 to $120 to replace the amp IC and close to the same for the electronic volume IC.
I hope this helps you to figure out the problem, or to at least make an informed decision about getting it repaired.
If you need any more help feel free to ask, and a nice rating would be really appreciated if this was helpful to you.
Have a great day :)
Dave
P.S. I like your speakers, you picked some good ones
Code for my kenwood
It don't work like that. Each individual head unit has a seperate PIN code. Best bet is to get the serial number from your unit. Located on top or back of it, and call Kenwood direct with the serial the serial number, they have all codes on file, they can help. Here are the numbers
Kenwood Australia - 1800 126 659
USA - 1-800-KENWOOD (536-9663
If not either of them, go to their site

Dont understand this ?
The second link I sent you has the info on how bypass the security code but you will need to cut or desolder pin # 8 from the eeprom. The info from there explains on how to get to that part.
You can also try the info from
this link, but you will need to have the remote control
Plays radio not cds
You may have Power antenna and amp remote turn on wires switched. Your system may be looking for turn on signal from radio and only gets it when am or fm is on because power antenna wire is hooked up instead of amp turn on signal.

it needs to be replaced, I'm a service tech @ a kenwood dealer, if you are intrested in getting the part or having it fixed email me

Swapped out players and new one doesnt power up
Ok. recheck your harness. WIth some brands yes the harness will plug into the radio from a different manufacturer but recheck the wire colors. They usually change pins out. For example whats power on a particular pin may be a speaker wire on another brand unit with the same style plug...
so get the harness that came with this radio. Check the pin location and wire color on that pin to the other harness. I almost guarantee that there is a difference. Hopefully you didnt damage your new cd player...
let me know how it goes...
