Shuts down at high volume

If you have your reciever in an entertainment center that is enclosed or a tight fit for the reciever you need to remove it and put it on top of the center. I have a VR407 and it was doing the same thing. This keeps your unit much cooler and the overheat relay will not turn it off. also I found it much easier to add or wire components much easier.

DTS option shows on the display when playing a DTS

That is a typical function of the movie you are watching..changing the sound mode can "usually" only be done by selecting it on the disc, or by using the audio button on your player depending on the model.

Hello everyone, I have a Kenwood 5300 receiver and when I turn it on mute light flashes three or four times and then it goes into standby mode. Anyone know this problem?

It's going in protection mode. Maybe relay issue. Need to bring to a tech to correct the issue.

Kenwood basic M2 Amp Lightning strike

you can check the output transistors for short circuits with the low ohms range or diode checker . If they have failed, then it is often a good idea to replace all as much stress can be placed on an output array in this type of failure. to repair reliable, all outputs on an offending channel should be replaced.

Make sure the fuse you replaced was the same type of fuse. check markings.... T stands for sloblo... a fast blo duse may let go at turn on. The power supply may have a shorted rectifier diode in it also.

be aware however, every time a fuse of that rating blows... more damage may be occurring to the amp.

Cant get the wiring figured out.........

TV is HD correct? Use the Y/CB/CR from the Sat to the TV. Use the Digital optical cable for sound from the sat to the receiver. Use the s-video from the dvd player to the tv and the l/r to the receiver for sound. I would suggest upgrading to another set of Y/CB/CR cables to connect your dvd to the TV and benefit from better picture. Also, buy another optical cable for dvd sound (so you can enjoy surround sound). Your receiver has two optical inputs so youre covered there.

I have had a Kenwood

If you've already disconnected the speakers then I suspect the fault is internal on the amplifier and the unit is shutting down to protect iteself.

The fault with most amplfiers can normally be traced to blown or leading capacitors (bulge on the top or liquid around base) which can be replaced for little cost if you've got the technical ability and equipment to desolder and resolder components on a PCB.

First thing to do would be to remove the cover and check the capacitors as detailed above.

I have a kenwood vr-407

Grab the free manual and start at the beginning. This IS a new install since the memories are probably back to defaults if it was unplugged for awhile.

My remote control doesn't work and hasn't

HERE'S THE ANSWER TO YOUR PROBLEM:

The problem of your first remote could have been the following:

1. battery - maybe the batteries are already used up and needs to be recharged in case it is rechargeable.

2. factory defect - since your second remote just worked for two days, it could be that the culprit is the factory defect. It's a defect out from the negligence of the manufacturer.

Here's what you've got to do: Since you have already used two remote controls, contact your service provider and tell them about your problem. They will definitely be willing to help you solve it.

Your problem is solved. Thanks...

I have a VR-407 reciever

A Kenwood VR-407 is a receiver and has an INPUT pair for CD/DVD, not outputs. Plug ANY functioning audio source (except a turntable) into it and select it on the front panel.

If your DP doesn't work on either I'd suspect something is wrong with IT.

"Dead" Remotes Can Be Saved

How to Re-Start Your "Dead" Remote Control

This only takes about a minute and will restart 1 in 3 "Dead" Original Remote Controls. Good Luck!

-----------------------------

Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.

Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!

Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.

(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!)

Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly.

New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.

Step 5- Try the remote.

Special Note:

If you have a digital camera, camcorder or camera phone you can test the remote to see if it is emitting a signal. Face the remote towards the lens of the digital unit until you can see the front of the remote. Depress any button on the remote. You should see a light (steady, blink or flashing) being emitted from the remote. If you do then the problem might not be the remote but the sensor on the unit.

If it works, Great!

If not, it's time to call 1-800-Remotes or use this website to order a new remote.

Find new or replacement remotes:

http://remotes.com/store/codes_original.html

or eBay: search for "(model) remotes", check the 'include description

according to the manual i think you have turned of speakers, if so you can turn them on again.
as the users manual says it should be the 11th button group, you find this pair of buttons in the left side next to the power botton, you might have turned off speakers.

My Kenwood VR-407 Turns off

Hello,

if it does not power up, then it means its having a power problem. it might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.

This unit must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the unit turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter in order to test the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

I wish you the best of luck.

Take care

I am connecting an amplifier to my VR-407 to

Connect the amplifier input to the VR-407 using the receiver's REC OUT jacks for the MD/TAPE input on the back panel. This is a fixed line-level output for recording, and will work fine for driving the additional amp.
