Maxon MCB-30 40-Channels Base CB Radio Questions & Answers
I have a cb radio in the car and one at home if i
radios are very picky beasts, the first thing you should do to get more range out of them is have them tuned by a cb dealer, from factory they rarely get out very far. also for the one that goes in your car antenna placement is very critical since your car body affects how the signal travels. even the length of antenna cable has a effect. when you have them "tuned" many times they will clip a resistor or "limiter" inside the unit. if you look up cb modding, youll find pages with 100s of makes of cb's and learn what modding them means. also look into high gain antenna for your units, if you want really long range buy a linear antenna "illegal in a lot of places" but you will be heard! people have used high gain antenna, and "skip" to talk to people in other states and countrys. skip is when the radio signal "skips" across the uppter atmosphere and uses it like a really big antenna. a lot of truck stops will have a good selection of antennas because cb is still very popular amongst truck drivers. i hope this helps you out and leads you in the right direction. cb is almost a lost art now and its nice to see people that are interested in it. take care and good luck!!
MAXON MCB45W will not recieve
I have one that doesn't transmit between the two we could have one radio but who's.. you should try to tune the receive cans but with no schematic you can't because if you turn the wrong one you could kill the radio. I would buy another radio like a radio shack trc - 503 or something in that line if you're into small radio's. Some of them can be opened up to talk like a big radio.
How do you install a Maxon radio repeeter. It only
Your correct the red wire is the positive and the black is the negative. You must also make sure to use a power supply with enough current to operate the radio. Usually a 12 volt supply that supplies about 4 to 8 amps should do the trick
Maxon wire fuses
If a inline fuse in a holder the old one will aside from length have the amperage printed on it---very few mobile radios use larger than a 3 amp fuse-----look on metal ends of old fuse if have it for markings like 3ag 3 250---3AG is size, 3 is 3 amp, 250 is max working voltage (120 is fine).
Ch 9
Hi larry, That is a normal ch 9 default on electronic channel changers. Small midlands/cobras also do that. Try taking the red/hot power wire loose and attaching it to a power source that is hot all the time. That way there will be power going to the radio with the key shut off and it should retain the last channel you were on.

What fuse does my maxon
12 volt 2 amp kinds or any 0.5 amps even. You want it to blow fast to save radio from damage. So, any type 0.1 amp to 1 amp or 2 even. It doesn't matter; but a fast blowing one will save radio from damage later on.
