My player won't turn on!!!

The m25 will not power on if LOCK/UNLOCK is in the locked position. If you press the POWER button, a padlock will appear on the LCD to remind you that the unit is locked. Confirm that the LOCK/UNLOCK switch is not in the locked position and press POWER to turn it on. If nothing happens after pressing the POWER button, the battery is probably discharged.

Motorola, M25, orange-Won't play

Likely not new but worth the try. Had reviewed various other POSTS, and suggestion to take out battery and let sit for a while. Often cures unknown ills. Took out the new battery that did not work, let it sit overnight, put battery in again next morning and it booted up. This was done after, changing three batteries, after taking in/out the SD card (no real reason, but figured why not) and, after a subtle BANG on each of the corners of the unit......

I have the player, memory question...

I've had a 1gb sd car for two years or so and never had any trouble. I'd like to hear the answer on the question whether 2gb cards work, too, though.

HOW CAN I PUT MY MUSIC ONTO IT

MP3 players need the music files converted to mp3 file format before copying to your MP3 player.
1st - You need to convert your CDs to MP3 musicfiles.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track.
There are also Freeware CD RIP programs on the Internet that add the musictitle and album title to the mp3 file automatically.
OR
Download MP3 music files from the Internet to your computer, some sites willcost money to download these music files.
2nd - connect your MP3 player to your computer using the supplied USB cable. The computer will see this player as an external storage device, Just copy theMP3 music files from the computer's hard disk to the MP3 player. I suggest you create a album/title folder for eachCD so you can place the MP3 music files by that artist into that folder. Thencopy these folders to your MP3 player and you will be able to select and playyour MP3 music by selecting the album you wish to play.
NOTE - When the USB cable is connected to the computer, it will also charge theMP3 player's battery.

My m25 doesn't load with a memory card (2Gb)

I think that the M25 only supports 1GB memory cards. (I've never tried a larger one in mine) Motorola's website only says up to 1GB.

Please help, it wont turn on.

Don't change the battery, but you have to take the battery out and leave it out for 2+ hours. Then put in a fresh battery and you are good to go. Mine does this every month or so. There is something about having no battery in it for a while that tells it to do something that cures this. Weird but I've been doing it for years.

Formatting the player memory

This process worked for my m25:
1. Download v1.11 firmware file from http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/support/default.asp?supportSection=DigitalAudio
2. With USB cable disconnected, turn off the m25.
3. Press Power while holding Menu button until UPGRADE is shown.
4. Connect m25 via USB cable.
5. Run the firmware downloaded in step 1.
6. Disconnect the USB cable, and the m25 should start a normal.

Removing music files

In order to delete the unwanted songs from your device, you must launch the Motorola Digital Music Center - it should have come with the installation CD, but is also available on Motorola's website at:
http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/support/default.asp?SupportSection=DigitalAudio
under Motorola Music Manager

When the M25 is conected to the computer and the music manager is launched, you can view a list of all songs on the device by clicking on the icon of the M25 in the left-hand side of the window. You can highlight the songs you don't want by left-clicking the song and pressing delete on your keyboard. There will be a prompt warnign you that this will delete the selected songs permanently from the device.

Motorola M25 Player

Yous should try reformating the player using Motorola's firmware. (Go to http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/support/default.asp?supportSection=DigitalAudio and download firmware v1.11 .) I've also found that calling Motorola's help line was useful.

Power problem

Believe it or not, to reset the unit you need to remove the battery for a couple of hours. I had the same problem and this solution worked for me. Good luck!
