Outputs of TI analog 500-5016 do not change when
hi, The VERY first thing we MUST check, is the PSU, check this exhaustively, even if possible replace with a know good, as if this isn't 100% A OK, NOTHING else can be..then well ADC 101 says that if there is NO output from the ADC, then this can only be due to 2 reasons, one, it is Inhibited, two, there is NO DATA to be converted/coming out? We need to find out why?
You need to use a 'scope and view the input and output signals along with the lines that control the IC, data flow, Inhibit etc, and see if all the lines are in the correct logic states, work back along either the control lines or signal, and work out why either it is inhibited or lacking signal.
Also check that you micro, isn't inhibiting it either?
Start at the beginning, where the analog signal is presented, and follow a line(s) along through the circuit with the 'scope, checking where they enter the conversion IC, then look at the Output(s) and see whats what, now if all control lines are set OK, and there is NO output then that IC must be faulty... anyway follow the signal along and see why it's not working..
unfortunately there could be many, many conditions that can cause this type of thing, one simply? must work through each block of the circuit, isolating sections if possible and viewing the activity on a 'scope to see where it all goes wrong. checking the voltage and signal levels are correct.
