The it sound as if the problem is your laptop. Are there any other device that you can connect to the internet while disconnecting the laptop? I had a problem once that when I connected one of my computers to the internet, the internet speed would drop to just Kbps. Try using another device, and see if it have the same results.

Are you able to sign-in to your router as admin?

Hi Brenda. this is all i could find. To change your Actiontec GT784WNV password: Open your Web browser and enter http://192.168.1.1 in the Address field. Enter your user name and password and click Continue. Your default user name is admin if you didn't change it when you configured your network.

If this is a Verizon router/modem that you are trying to connect your own router to in order to use it as the DHCP device with your home network, you will need to contact Verizon technical support and they will perform the bridging operation for you. You cannot do it yourself with many of these devices.

Most Actiontec Modems and Routers DO NOT have a default login. The exceptions are the Actiontec Modems and Routers made and branded for a specific Internet Service Providers (ISP). Some ISP's require a default user name and password. These Modems and Routers have a sticker on the bottom of the device with the default User name and Password printed on them.

Reboot your computer. Check for any pending Windows updates and install as needed. If you still get an error read through the text of the error. It will usually give you a clue on what is causing the issue.

If you do a factory reset on the router it will put all settings back to default settings, the default password can normally be found on a sticker on the side or bottom of router. it will say "WEP" or "WPA2 key". you factory reset the router by holding down a red button (inside of a hole) on the back of the router for 12+ seconds while its still powered on.

Do you get sound with other devices, like DVR player? If not then you have bad tv speakers. If you are using a set top box with HDMI cord I recommend replacing HDMI cable. Other than that more info would be needed to help you better

Factory reset the router, 98% of time solves problem with Xbox, you shouldnt have to configure and thing after the factory reset, just reconnect via ethernet or wifi. you hold down the reset button on the back of the router for 12+ seconds while the router is turned on. wait 1-2 minutes for reboot

Just plug into any of the 4 yellow ethernet ports using an ethernet cable. Or connect a wireless device using the SSID and Wep/WPA2 key found on the sticker on the router. If you cant find it call your ISP

nope, doesn't look like it. It might support the use of WPS pin setup, but my guess is that you just need to go the traditional route of connecting your devices using the wep/wpa2 key

Because you have limited or no internet connection. Try checking the modem first then the eathernet cable coming from the modem to your router. I actually just had this same problem and it turned out to be a bad cable. Good luck, Marty

Do you have any devices that are already connected to the WiFi? If yes, perhaps there is a way to read the password from them. Using a paper clip or similar object press and hold the reset button which is accessed via the hole inside the red circle on the back of the modem. Make sure you hold the button in for 30 seconds or more. You will then have reset you login id and password and reconfigure all the wireless and security features you had in there before.
