I have a PT-47WX49 rear projection Panasonic TV that is 4.5 years old. When I powered it up yesterday, the picture came on with a nonuniform distorted appearance. In general, the picture appears to be misaligned with a blue shadow on the entire picture. In addition, there is a blue semicircular area at the bottom of the picture with a red semicircular shadow above the blue area. It is impossible to align the blue and red using the convergence functions as different parts of the picture are out of alignment in differing amounts. Finally the geometry of the picture appears to be distorted in the blue and red semi-circular areas at the bottom of the picture.
I've posted this solution several times but here goes. Try setting up the convergence through the menu by accessing the convergence setup menu. If this fails to work you have a bad digital convergence box and need a tech to replace it. About $60 to $100 fix.

Anyone know if FixYa will accept pdf files larger than 5MB? I have emailed them twice but haven't heard anything. I have the service manuals with schematics for the Panasonic PT-47WX49E 47" PTV and would like to share them. It would save a lot of time and effort for those who are looking for them. I also have a complete set for most of the Panasonic series big screen PTV's that I could copy in pdf if they will accept them. Any ideas? cposwn
scott iam in need of one too would you PLEASE add me to your list Thanks so much

well ive made some good adjustments in the service menu but im still waiting for an email with the service manual so i cant figure out how to get the chk... message off the top right of the screen if anyone knows how it would be greatly apreciated
You should have purchaced the service manual before you went into the sevice mode, as the service mode is a dangerous place to be if you do not know anything about it. You can get the service manual from www.servicemanuals.net for about 20 bucks or so. A lot less expensive then a serviuce call I would think.

1> I'm in urgent need of service manual for 5 year old PT47WX49E, Which is giving blue convergence problem. I would greatly appreciate if you could email me service manual for it @ [email protected].
2>Also would you know; how to get into "service man mode" for this type of TV ?
3> I have a single chipset of STK392-110 convergence correction IC. I'm little rough on soldering (especially undoldering), can someone point me to a useful link.
Thanks in advance !!
Regards,
GT
Here is a link where you should be able to obtain a service manual for your set. http://www.asm-service-manual.com/
To answer your second question. You have to be careful. Make sure you write down all current settings so you dont mess the Television set up worse. The code is the following.
Accessing the Service Menu w/ Remote:
Navigating the Dynamic Convergence Menu
TIP: Use a dvd that has an aspect ratio of 1.85:1 (I used Starship Troopers) and make it just fit. Don't squeeze too much vertical as the AA9a60 may have some tearing on the top of the picture....this means you will have to cheat and increase horizontal size, cropping some info off the sides.
For your final question You should have( 2) STK392-110 convergence ICs in that model. Thats probaly your problem. I would recomend changing them out before adjusting any setting via the service mode. Thes ICs are available from http://electronix.com/ for 5.99 each. Hope this helps let me know if I can be of any further help.

I'll be watching t.v. and all of the sudden the picture freezes, not the audio, just the picture. Not for very long, but long enough to be buggin me. It did it with direct tv, it does it with dish ( which is what I have now ), but when I had cable, it didn't.
Digital TV pix will freeze when signal fades due to whether or mis- aligned dish.

I am planning to fix a Hitachi Ultravision convergence problem by replacing the convergence chips. I got the Hitachi kit and it came with two STK394-160 convergence chips. Each chip has a code in the top right corner of the chip. One code is D7G22 and the other is D7115. I am guessing the chips function the same and I can put either one in either location, but want to make sure the code is irrelevant to which location the chip goes. Can I put either chip in for either chip currently on the board? The chips on the board are both stk392-110 chips. The kit came with six resistors to replace for the chip upgrade which I plan to do. Hopefully it will go well if I put the chips in either location.
Thanks,
I have the panasonic ptv47 projection set and ordered the sanyo stk394-160 replacement ic's. After soldering both new ic's to board and turning set on, i see smoke and the set turns itself off. Checked solder joints to ic's to make sure their not touching and as far as i can see they are not. Is there anything else that could cause the smoke? The lamps do not turn at all by the way. Could I have fried something on the board when I desoldered the original ic's? Help!
I have read both of the above posts.
On the first post, the 'codes' are the date codes. Both parts were manufactured in 2007, and will have no bearing on performance, should both lots not be the same as they were manufactured on different weeks.
On the second post:
There is allot of misinformation on the web pertaining to the applications of STK394-160(E)'s.
This special device was manufactured by Sanyo exclusively for Hitachi PTV's. They will not work in any other projection TV's except for Hitachi. Let me say this again, "They will not work in any other projection TV's except for Hitachi." The 'E' suffix is the nomenclature for PB Free or lead free. All STK394-160's were manufactured as 'lead free'. The 'E' will not appear on the part. Here's more information:
For Hitachi PTV's ( Projection TV's ), STK392-150 replaces STK392-110. STK392-120 should be replaced with STK392-120 or STK394-160's in matched pairs. The -120's are 4 amp devices while both the -110's and -150's are 3 amp. We market replacement kits for -110's that contain two original Sanyo STK392-150's and the associated resistors along with solder and resistor designations for all models. We also have an STK394-160 Kit, along with solder and resistor designations for all models.
Prelco electronics is a direct purchaser of STK's IC's directly from Sanyo Semiconductor Distribution. If you would like the real parts, your search has ended. Parts can be ordered on line, or toll free: 888-773-5268, ( 908-429-9999 local ) Sales X 2, http://www.prelcoparts.com

light blinks 3 times every 5 seconds need solution please email me
thats the error code for the convergence ICs. Replace both STK392-110 Convergence Ics and the 2.2 ohm resistors. You can get the Panasonic rear projection Convergence repair kit #1 at the following link which contains the two ICs and all six resistors plus step by step instructions with pictures so you can do the repair yourself.
