When this happens it usually means that you have a convergence problem.
The problem is fixed replacing the two convergence ICs. Depending on the model, before replacing the ICs you may attempt doing a convergence setup.
According to your description, if colors are not aligning, and picture is bowed at the edges, a convergence setup will not help. You have to replace the ICs.
The convergence ICs are two power amp STK chips, located on the convergence board. This must be desoldered and replaced with the new STK ICs, that must be soldered using coolant paste.
Depending on the situation, more components located on convergence board may need replacement.
