Panasonic PT-50LC13 50" Rear Projection HDTV Questions & Answers
DLP lamp lights up then goes out
How long have you had this lamp working on your TV? or when was this last replaced? If you have not replaced it in a while this is most probably in need of a new lamp, make sure you buy OEM! There are too many knock offs out there!

The lamp indicator light flashes 4 times every 5 seconds
I hate to suggest something so simple, but did you try taking off the back panel and vacuming out the dust? Honest to God, this has solved my problem with not just my rear projection television but my dacor oven which started beeping as well. I'm no expert, but I believe the dust on the wires and circuits causes them to overheat. It is worth a try ( it has saved me a couple thousand dollars!).

Don't come on no power light
Try another socket somewhere else.
If that doesn't work call your power company to come out & fix the problem for free.'It's not your fault & you should not have to pay.
If this problem messed up your tv they have to pay you.
Hope this helps.

HDMI slot is absent in this tv. How can I adapt it to handle HDMI?
Yes, the Panasonic PT-50LC13 has a DVI port. There are DVI to HDMI adapters to handle the conversion. You will need an HDMI F to DVI-D M adapter (like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Importer520-Plated-Female-DVI-D-Adaptor/dp/B0035B4LJM/ref=pd_sim_e_1 ). Alternatively, get an HDMI to DVI-D video cable (both male ends) of the appropriate length. You will need a separate cable for the audio. Make sure that your source has a separate analog audio output available and plug that into the DVI audio input (RCA R/L). If your source has a only digital audio output and the HDMI port, you could use a digital-to-analog audio converter to provide this audio. For example, this would work:
http://www.gefen.com/kvm/gtv-digaud-2-aaud.jsp?prod_id=5279 .Please note this will not handle the signal from most computers. They send a different signal then the TV can handle. Copy protected content (DRM) may not be correctly translated by the TV. Most Blu-ray movies require HDCP compliant TVs and monitors. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

How to access ballast on pt-50lc13
The ballast is hard to completely remove--one plug all the way to the left as seen from rear and to the front, this does not really need to remove that. The box is to the center and rear, unplug some plugs, screws and the box will come out far enough to replace the parts without removing the who thing from the set.The large metal box with shields etc is the ballast.

Panasonic TV PT-50LC13 Does not turn on, and the error lights are:
This model was recalled in the USA and part of a massive program where the set was replaced (working or not) as part of a class action lawsuit there---Panasonic had to recycle the sets but told us they wanted nothing in them and we were free to take whatever we wanted---they paid our shop to pick up the old sets and deliver the replacements. That said, the issue this model had was lamps did not last very long in them---the ballast the fires the lamp was the problem but by the time they figured out a cure it was too late---too many people and lawyers were involved. For a while Panasonic considered them a dead duck and no parts etc were available---no tech support for them as well.If the lamp has not been examined (it can look perfect and be gone) it should. Also look to see if when turned on the lamp comes on or not if even just for a moment.Based on the history of this set I would not take one in for any kind of repair or suggest spending any real money on it.Google the model number with "problems" to get a idea.

Panasonic TV shuts off after a couple minutes
Good day!!!!That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..1. Open the back cover of your TV.2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..3.
After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is
bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..4.
After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and
soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings
and value..5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

Panasonic TV won't turn on, red led blink
The model indicated was a recalled set--all were supposed to be exchanged under a program Panasonic was forced to use.The main reason was they were eating lamps up at alarming rates.I would suggest the lamp (customer replaceable) be removed and inspected---it even if looks good may have to be replaced to see if it is the problem or not.The lamp issue was caused by a bad Ballast that drives the lamp--kits were eventually made to cure this as the Ballasts were no longer available--rebuilt ones are but not easy to replace.
