could be a fan or the color wheel not starting.open the back,look for the safety switch that pushes in when you put the back on,put a piece of tape on it,and fire up the tv. look for fans not spinning. or call http://www.shopjimmy.com/ and speak to their techs about it

This model was recalled in the USA and part of a massive program where the set was replaced (working or not) as part of a class action lawsuit there---Panasonic had to recycle the sets but told us they wanted nothing in them and we were free to take whatever we wanted---they paid our shop to pick up the old sets and deliver the replacements.That said, the issue this model had was lamps did not last very long in them---the ballast the fires the lamp was the problem but by the time they figured out a cure it was too late---too many people and lawyers were involved.For a while Panasonic considered them a dead duck and no parts etc were available---no tech support for them as well.If the lamp has not been examined (it can look perfect and be gone) it should. Also look to see if when turned on the lamp comes on or not if even just for a moment.Based on the history of this set I would not take one in for any kind of repair or suggest spending any real money on it.Google the model number with "problems" to get a idea.

i'm on my 3rd bulb in 5 yrs. i hate this tv. this time my bulb light didn't come on. instead the power light flashed green fast then went to red flashing after. i took out the bulb and it's blown!

Set may shut down for a number of reasons--the model listed here had all kinds of troubles with the Lamp and its Ballast and was recalled years ago.

Good day!!!!That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..1. Open the back cover of your TV.2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

The model indicated was a recalled set--all were supposed to be exchanged under a program Panasonic was forced to use.The main reason was they were eating lamps up at alarming rates.I would suggest the lamp (customer replaceable) be removed and inspected---it even if looks good may have to be replaced to see if it is the problem or not.The lamp issue was caused by a bad Ballast that drives the lamp--kits were eventually made to cure this as the Ballasts were no longer available--rebuilt ones are but not easy to replace.

This model (pt50lc13) was subject and part of a massive recall by Panasonic and the main problem was the Ballast which powers the lamp had repeated failures where it destroyed the lamp over and over again.If lamp bad again (should have a warranty on that from where you bought it) the ballast should be dealt with---there is a kit for this but not for a novice at this kind of repair.

This is a model which was part of a rather large class action lawsuit a few years ago. Most were if original owner exchanged for a new model.

Many had problems where the lamp would repeatedly fail. I know as the shop I work for was involved in the exchange program and we would pick up the old set (problem or not) and deliver a newer model to the customer.

We did Panasonic authorized repairs and they did want the old sets back but told us to take anything out of them we wanted as they were just going to scrap whatever got returned to them.

The most common failure in these sets was the Ballast which is really the power supply that fires the lamp up went bad. At one point in time they completely ran out of replacements and had a "kit" where the supply had to be removed and several parts in it replaced out of hand.

I did this several times in people's homes. A newer replacement Ballast eventually arrived but it is pricey and not a do it your self job to get at, remove and replace.
