My Panasonic SA-HE9 reads Overload everytime I

The most common problem found on FixYa for Audio Video Receiver's is:

My receiver say's "Protect" or turns on then off. What's wrong? Seven times out of ten it is a shorted speaker or speaker wire. To determine your exact problem, the first step is to disconnect all speaker wires "at your receiver" Next: Turn the receiver back on. If your receiver still says "protect" or turns off, it needs to be serviced. If your receiver stays on; reconnect your speakers one at a time and power back up after each speaker. You may find that after reconnecting all speaker wires it works! Most commonly the small braids of wire from the + to the - have touched and have caused the problem. In some instances, you noticed the problem only when turning the volume up. either way, make sure the exposed wires to your receiver are no longer than 1/2" long and are completely under the screw down terminal or slide in. When you've found the wire or speaker with the problem, your receiver will go back into "protect" At this point, disconnect the wire from the speaker at the speaker that may be causing the problem then test again.* Note* Make sure speaker wires do Not touch each other as this Will cause a short! If you turn the receiver back on and it stays on, you now know the problem is in your speaker itself. To test your speaker, you will need a multimeter. Set it to ohms resistance and touch the speaker terminals, if there is a short internally the meter will read "1......" If it's an analog meter, it will peg to the right. There's your problem. Now, within any speaker there are quite a few possibilities as to what could be causing the problem. Most common is a blown coil and the speaker needs to be replaced. Some speakers have internal crossovers (usually floor standing speakers) and may have a shorted or burnt board (usually very visible brown burn marks on the board) and can possibly be repaired if your handy with a soldering iron. Now, if you disconnect the speaker wire at the speaker and it still says "protect" Check your wire for the obvious cut or nail thru the wire if possible. If your system has wiring that runs behind walls, you may need to use your meter again. Disconnect the wire at both ends, keep the ends separated, put your meter on ohms resistance and touch probes to the + and - wires at one side. If the meter pegs to the right or reads "1...." the wire is shorted and needs to be replaced or repaired at the short. Hope this helps.

How can i hook a eq to this reciever to play

I assume you have it connected traditionally in the Tape loop and understand how that works. ANY 2-channel analog source will work with the EQ engaged.
I'm guessing you have digital sources you want to process. Ain't gonna happen. See page 19 of the manual. Note at the bottom.

Be advised that the engagement of any device in a Tape Monitor loop on a late-model Audio/Video Receiver will effectively tie the receiver down to stereo-only analog sound reproduction. I'll explain.

The connections themselves are fairly simple but it pays to understand what happens in the loop.

In general, any Line-Level external processor (EQ, dynamic range expander, etc) will go into a Tape Monitor loop on a receiver. A Tape Monitor, when engaged, sends the stereo analog signal Out to the Processor, massages it and returns it to the receiver via the Tape Monitor IN connectors to be passed on to the receiver's internal processes (volume, tone, whatever).

Old school analog stereo-only receivers consistently work this way. Newer digital and audio/video receivers introduce a couple of problems: 1) digital sound processing to simulate a variety of soundfields; 2) multiple output channels, either discrete or digitally-generated.

The latter requires that whatever signal is being processed experiences a maximum of one analog-digital-analog conversion.

EVERYTHING analog coming into the modern digital receiver is automatically converted to a digital signal for internal processing unless you choose a STEREO-only or STEREO-Direct setting. Consequently, no further external analog-digital conversions would be allowed if, say, a Tape Monitor circuit was activated, and a possible feedback loop could otherwise be created in a digital-sourced selection (output to its own input), so the unit is wired to treat the Tape Monitor as the first analog step in the process and defeats any pure digital sources.

In a multichannel unit, what would happen to the other channels if you sent ONLY the Front Left & Right out for processing? The rest would NOT be processed. That logical problem also plays into the decision to defeat digital sources if the Tape Monitor is activated. I don't totally agree with the engineers but that

I have a panasonic sa vk880 and it wont give sound outputs, when i click on subwoofer button or surrounded enhancer it says error, please help

Try disconnecting all of the speakers except the left and right main speakers. If it works, check the wiring at the back of each speaker to make sure there aren't any shorts between the terminals. Better yet, just inspect the terminals both at the audio unit and the backs of the speakers. Stray strands of wire reaching across to the other terminal or exposed wire on the other side are a common problem. If you have that all cleaned up and still have the error, you may have shorted transistors in the output amp of one of the channels, very likely the subwoofer. This may be caused by shorted speaker wiring, or the amp may have failed on its own. In either case, you would have to replace both of the output transistors for that channel (they may be built into a power amp module, in which case the module must be replaced). This requires soldering skill, and the knowledge to identify the transistors and check them with an ohmmeter. Most of the time, it's a basic job for any skilled electronic technician. (I did run into one model that would have required two days of disassembly labor just to get at the failed transistors - I told the customer that wasn't designed for service and he would be better off buying something different to replace it.)

Panasonic DVD CD and vidio CD made in 2002

If your Panasonic DVD/CD player is not reading CDs and is making a grinding noise, there could be several issues at play. Keep in mind that specific troubleshooting steps may vary based on the exact model of your DVD/CD player. However, here are some general suggestions:
  1. Cleaning the Optical Lens: Over time, the optical lens inside the DVD/CD player can accumulate dust and debris, leading to reading issues. You can try using a CD/DVD lens cleaning kit to clean the lens. Follow the instructions provided with the cleaning kit.
  2. Check the Disc: Ensure that the discs you are using are clean and free from scratches. Even new CDs can have manufacturing defects. Try using different CDs to see if the issue persists.
  3. Inspect the Loading Mechanism: The grinding noise you're hearing could be related to a problem with the loading mechanism. Open the disc tray and visually inspect for any obstructions or foreign objects that may be hindering the movement of the tray.
  4. Reset the Player: Turn off the DVD/CD player and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve temporary issues.
  5. Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your DVD/CD player. Visit the Panasonic website, enter your model number, and look for firmware updates and instructions on how to perform them.
  6. Professional Inspection: If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it may be necessary to seek professional assistance. There could be a mechanical problem with the internal components of the player that requires specialized attention.
If you are unable to find the exact manual for your specific model online, you may want to contact Panasonic customer support directly. They can provide you with model-specific advice and may have access to manuals or troubleshooting guides for your particular DVD/CD player.
