Very hard to pull cord
Hi Marco:
You're not alone with that problem. My 266 will barely pull over after sitting for a few days. After a couple of pulls it loosens up and starts fine. Hot starts are also easy. It did not completely solve the problem BUT THIS SURE HELPED. I took the starter assembly off the saw. The narrow reel that the pull cord feeds into had spread which allowed the cord to wedge in against itself. I replaced the reel and here's the important part, MAKE SURE YOU USE A LARGE DIAMETER PULL CORD. That way the cord will lay on top of itself and will not wedge the reel apart.
Gotta love those old Husky's!
Chainsaw starts but will not tick over
Does the engine tick over if the chain brake is off...? If so, check the clutch springs. If it doesn't tick over when the chain brake is off, try advancing the tick over screw.
