Sony Trinitron clicks 5 times then standby light blinks 2 times every few seconds

It is due to over voltage form the SMPS power supply to horizontal output section circuit. If this voltage goes higher than normal, the set will shut down, showing two blinks of standby lights. I've recently found one site that details all these matters well. "electro-help' is the site name. Google for it. have all details, and I'm sure that you will get all details.

Sony 27"TV will not turn on

The picture tube on your tv is dead, you need to replace it. It probably will be worthing just purchasing a new set, because the cost of repairing it will be close to the purchase of a new one.

Tv won't turn on-red blinking light

This is the most common death mode for TV's. The high voltage is acting up. You set is not quite 10 years old right? Can be fixed, but involves replacing the Flyback transformer which is not cheap. It is a toss-up as to whether it is worth putting the $200 or so it will cost to fix into a set that has limited expected lifetime.

No sound or picture

Hello,
I'm not sure if you solved your technical issue or not, but if your TV is still broken, I would be interested in buying the door that covers the AV inputs. This door is on the front of the TV. Unfortunately, mine broke, and it's been difficult to find a replacement. If you are interested, I can be reached at (612) 801-5752 or by email at [email protected]. Thanks.

Sony Trinitron Power Surge 5 Blinks

once you have diagnosed the problem, the following link is to all parts for your tv stocked at partstore. they generally have better prices than the dealers and repair shops.

you can try the dead-tv kit from fixyourowntv if you have some basic experience with soldering and circuit repair.

Five blinks means, "IK (AKB)" (white balance). The probable causes listed by Sony are as follows:
1) Video OUT (IC561) is faulty (A board)
2) IC355 is faulty (A board)
3) Screen (G2) is improperly adjusted.

not sure what the 13 blinks are for.

hope this helps,

No sound or picture now

The set may have shorted the horizontal out put transistor since it kept coming on sometimes. This could be cause by the driver transformer arcing causing a "spike" in voltage going to you horizoltal out put transistor. Stargazer
