Check the deflection yoke for winding short. Check all the solder terminals around the capacitors of the horizontal output transistor for any loose soldering terminals. re-solder all the suspected ones, by applying a little more solder to each terminal. Most UK models they come with the cord fitted from inside. Make sure is a UK model first, check the label at the to see if the input voltage is 240v. if not is an imported model ie: the different socket at the back.

If the power plug prongs are not the same as what you normally have, (assuming the prongs were not messed up, i.e. they are from a foreign country) you can get and use an adapter ... that fits the "weird prongs" on one side and has the "normal" prongs on the other side ... to plug into the outlet.
