When I called a tv repair company the rep said this usually indicates that the "lamp" for this model needs to be replaced. Since he TV is so heavy he suggested that I access the trap door in back of the console and detach the "lamp" myself and bring the lamp to his shop for replacement. Approximate cost for the lamp is $200.00. Wish me luck.

Hello, there are so many reasons why your TV won't bring out sound. You need to troubleshoot first, in order to get to the root of the problem, before a solution can be proffered. First, connect a DVD player to the TV, observe if there is going to be sound. If there is still no sound after connecting the DVD player to the TV, proceed to the next step. "The reason why I asked you to connect a DVD player to the TV is to confirm if the problem is simply not from the audio cord connected to the TV." Second, get an headset, connect it to the earphone jack of the TV and observe if there is going to be sound. If there is no sound, then it is glaring now that your TV is having a defective sound card/IC that's why it is not bring out any sound. (Note that connecting an headset to your TV is optional because not all TV's has a space for headset). More that likely you are using the internal speakers for sound. There is an output IC (Integrated Circuit) that processes and amplifies the sound. If that fails partially you will get fuzzy sound, also the speakers could themselves be causing the problem. If you have an external Audio out try running it through an external amplifier if the sound is clear then the problem is the Audio output section...

To accomplish this connect the Red and White Audio OUT to the stereo. Use an audio patch cord and plug the cord into the amplifier using any input (you must select that input on the front panel) except a phono input.

Maybe the degaussing coil is moved backward from the picture tube.

the manual doesnt say anything about disabling the memory card slot.
common advice would be
If you have a memory card plugged in take it out while you are watching something else.
If you dont have one pluggged in while you get the message, plug one in?

Yellowish tint in picture shows that TV needs increase in blue gain because picture tube is bit weak in result.
If you are handy with electronics repair then let me know to guide you further.

Is their a speaker or something electronic or electrical near the tv? Move it away, if there is, and see what happens.

My sony HD TV started automatically flipping to the memory stick screen by itself. I thought maybe the remote was malfunctioning so I took the batteries out of the tv's remote as well as the cable boxes remote. Still does it. If I hit the memory stick button on the remote to switch off the screen sometimes it goes back to TV screen and sometimes it doesn't. Eventually, it flips back to the memory stick screen. Is this a known problem for this TV? your problem in system control section check aft &tuning ckt &its voltages check for loose contact in above ckt check tuner thanks

This TV is 10 years old and probably requires a service that replaces the backlight invertor or just a power supply issue. Check to see if the light blinks. (That is the fault code and then google the result for more information).
