RED LIGHT FLASHES ABOUT 5 TO 10 SECONDS AFTER THE TV IS TURNS ON A SONY WEGA KDF 55E2000

I can safely say that the components are still in good working order, just because it's flashing doesn't necisarily mean the components are ruined, but i can see how it's distracting, my suggestion either paint over the defective led

How do i take my sony wega trinitron off stand by

Generally speaking, when the set stays in standbny with the light blinking, there is a problem internally that is detected and the set remains off to prevent further damage. The standby light shouldb e blinking in a repeated pattern of X blinks. Please post the model number (KV-32FS120?) and the blink count and I will be able to provide more details about the problem and its resolution.

Thanks,
Dan

Sony Trinitron KV-ES34M90 turns on

The two blink code means the set is turning off because of over-current protection. This, along with your saying that the screen turns orange before the set shuts off, leads me to think your picture tube is bad. What's probably happening is that as the tube heats up (there's a filament like that in a light bulb in the neck of a conventional picture tube) one of the metal elements moves and touches something it shouldn't. This then lets high voltage from the tube get to places it shouldn't and the protection circuit kicks in.

There's no fix for this other than to replace the picture tube. It would be far less expensive to buy a new LCD or plasma TV than to buy a replacement Sony tube. And the replacement tube then needs convergence to get the red, green and blue color beams properly aligned and adjustments to get them balanced. Work done in the field seldom looks as good as the factory job, and it can be disappointing. The LCD or plasma sets don't have these issues.

Now might be a good time to start checking sale prices.

Blink 13 times

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Color faded

Check the video output card. Look for any loose solder terminals at it. Re-solder all the suspected solder terminals, by applying a little more solder. This card can be located at the neck of the CRT, will be just plugged on to its back. Check the solder terminals of the CRT abse socket too. I have sony wega trinitron

Hello
Your TV model has only NTSC system with it. No PAL or SECAM. It is not a mutisystem compactable one. Check whether your DVD has NTSC playback option. If it has, you can see discs writed in NTSC system through your TV. If it has not equipped with that system, it is useless for your TV. Sony KV32FS120 and KV36FS120 models are only meant of US standard, and have only NTSC system with it. Ok.

No BBC channels available after retuning Sony Trinitron TV

When TV channels are moved from one frequency to another frequency that was previously used by a different channel (sorry, but there's no simple way of saying that !) as has happened recently in th UK, some digital TVs and digiboxes struggle to sort the channel list out properly and channels can go missing as you describe.

If your equipment has the option to delete all currently stored channels (normally in the tuning menu options) then do so and then do a full re-tune.
Sometimes, this solves the problem as the equipment is no longer aware of any previous use of a frequency and just loads every channel it finds.

If this doesnt work, or your equipment doesnt have the option, then there is normally the option soemwhere in the menus to retore the item to "factory defaults/configuration". This will clear all previously stored channels and after a full re-tune your missing chanels should be there. However, any other configuration changes you previously made, e.g picture size, output type (RGB/NSCT/etc), etc will be lost and you'll need to set these again.

NB. some regions of the country have lost some channels temporarily now until after the switch over programme completes at the end of 2012. If you visit the Freeview website, this will tell you if your area is affected.
