Pioneer DVR-107D DVD±RW Burner - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I burn a dvd from an iso using 2 different
'Standard' DVD players will not play computer video formats such as .AVI or .DIVX or .WMV or .MP4 whereas the 'generic' and cheaper (chinese) Players will support them (they will state that they support MPEG, DIVX and MPEG 3 & 4 formats).
Unless your ISO results in a properly DVD formatted media (with multiple files and file types including .DAT), it simply will not work.
Note that many 'standard' (and branded) DVD players will not support many rewritable CD or DVD.
Hope my information will help you assess your problem
My hp pavillion dvd drive just hangs up when I try to reinstall windows
Is the disk your using homemade or a factory made disk? Some drives just won't read 100% of the disks inserted into them. Have you tried another installation disk to see if the problem persisits? Are you able to "SEE" the files on the disk using Windows Explorer? Can you copy those files to your hard drive? If yes, then try installing from the hard drive files instead of the disk. What OS are you trying to install?

I have the same problem. Has anyone found a solution? I have an HP Notebook dv6700 with a Pioneer DVDRW [DVR-K17B ATA Device]. For the past few months I haven't been able to burn anything to disc. I can't find any firmware updates online. I'm not sure if I need to buy a new drive?
Thank you in advance for any feedback.

It does not read cd's
Hi..
this may caused by
- Dirty Lens
- Faulty Internal Mechanisms
- Corrupted Data transfer
- Dirty Lens- Your Drive's Lens may have become dirty and you need to clean the lens.It is usual that the lens become dirty time to time. You can clean the lens by the cleaning Disc which can be purchased separately from a nearby computer shop.
- Faulty Internal Mechanisms - all internal movements are powered by a small electrical motors and belts. If any of these are not working as it would, then Drive may not work as expected. You may need a expert hands to clear this problem.
- Corrupted Data Transfer - If all the internal parts are working properly but data cable is not connected properly, then too drive may not read any discs. you can reconnect the cables.
