Got a HP DV9700 laptop..running

Hi Mark,

    • Download and install CCleaner (free) from Piriform

    • Run the cleaner to remove old un-needed temp files

    • Select the StartUp tab and look for any programs that you know you installed but no longer use or need, and disable them. Caution, do not disable any system files unless you absolutely know what they do and that you do not need them.

    • Run the Registry cleaner, when asked if you want to backup the registry, select YES, and save to a file you will remember just in case. I have used this program hundreds of time on many different system and it has never caused a problem, but you want to be safe, backup the Registry.

    • If asked about a particular file that it wants to clean, select "yes to all"

    • Reboot

Windows should reinstall the drive when the computer boots back up.

If you take all of the above steps and the system still does not see the drive, chances are the drive needs to be replace.

I have Power Mac G5

The laser diode - the one that generates the laser beam - has started to fail. This is unfixable, the entire optical/drive unit will have to be replaced.
No need for one that expensive, every single DVD+RW unit with a PATA interface will do - you can buy one for less than $30.

I have burned some quick time movies to a disc i

Hi, your DVD player might like the disks you use, + or -, maybe it doesnt recognise the format you have recorded in, you say 'Quick Time'? Look for 'DivX or XviD' on your player, this is the common DVD players that people use. When you dowmload a video image look out for XviD or DivX in the title,
If this helps you out please give me thumbs up thanks...

Pioneer device (Pioneer DVD-RW

There are several reasons for your dvd writer being stopped working. It could be your Laptop or it could be the Dvd writer itself. So let's try some troubleshooting measures to find out the root of the problem.

*[Requirements; one extra working ata/ide dvd writer; another laptop with ata/ide connector for cd/dvd writer; soft brush, alcohol/acetone/spirit]*

First of all, let's get started with the Dvd writer; Remove the Dvd writer, clean the interfaces (connectors) using soft brush dipped in alcohol or spirit or acetone. Also clean the Ata connector on the Laptop. After they are dried, reinstall the Dvd writer on the slot and power on the Laptop and check if it's detected in the Bios or not. If it's detected, boot it into normal mode and check again. If you can see the drive in the My Computer, then you need to check whether it's reading cds/dvds or not. If it's not, then you need to try different cds/dvds and make sure any cd or dvd is working or not. In case none is read, switch off the Laptop and remove the dvd writer, now install it on the other laptop. (if you don't have another laptop with ide/ata connector for cd/dvd rom, you will not be able to perform this). No positive effect?, your only option in to replace it.

Doesn't the Bios detect the Drive? then install it directly on the other laptop, if its detected there and works well, then the problem is with the interface on the Laptop which you'll need to take it to a service center.

Now let's check the system. It'd be better if you had mentioned the operating system installed on your system. Many Windows 7 users are facing this problem because of Raid driver problem, as we know many hardwares and softwares aren't compatible with windows 7. In this case, the Bios will not detect the Cd/Dvd rom and when the computer is booted, it'll not show up on the My Computer or In the Device Manager.

Well, you might get confused, let me wind up here for now. Please let me know when you are done with the above mentioned instruction and if the problem persists and your system has windows 7 installed on it, let me know so that I can help you check the Raid settings and Drivers' signing problem.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Will this burner work on dual layer discs?

Pioneer has released Firmware for the DVR-107D DVD Writer and DVR-A07XLA & XLB DVD Writer. This release # is 1.18.
http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/computer/firmware.html
(a ZIP file download, but uncompresses to an .EXE, as does theflashman.rpc1.org site download. I can't uncompress the EXEs with Stuffit (standard) Expander v7.0x here, but Scott said he used version 8.0.2 )
Looks like we are getting closer to Dual Layer Support:
(although some have flashed NEC ND-2500A drives to DL 2510 model firmware, I doubt that Pioneer will release an official firmware update for the 107D to add dual-layer burning. Like other mfrs, I suspect they'll sell a new drive model with DL burning support.)
For Models DVR-107D FW Version 1.18
  • DVD-R Writability Improvement
  • +R Writability Improvement
  • DVD-RAM Playability Improvement
  • CD Playability Improvement
  • +R DL DoubleLayer Playback Implemented (NOT Record)

    For Models DVR-A07XLA, DVR-A07XLB, DVR-107AXL & DVR-107BXL FW Version 1.18
  • DVD-R Writability Improvement
  • +R Writability Improvement

I have an Hp laptop with a pioneer dvdrw dvr k17b not burning.

dies your burned this work on your PC? if it works on your pc you just have to select the correct settings for your burning software, when you burn does it ask you to burn multiple sessions? if it does and you selected the option create multiple session then what will happen is the disc's you burnt will only work on your windows and not on any other computer or devices that use dvd's or cd's, on the options it will also have a choice for you to choose single session only wherein this will allow you to use the burnt disc in any other computer and will most likely work 100% of the time ^_^ NOTE: this step I gave all depends on the software you use to burn your disc and you may be required to play around your software for some softwares do not have the same info in them but at time be the same in thier function and purpose ^_^ I just based this answer to your question using my NERO

I NEED THE Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-107D DRIVERS

Hi!
Designated drivers for DVD-RW drives do not exist! They work with the native Windows drivers. The CD/DVDs that are usually shipped with the drives include a burning software and maybe some additional tools - but never drivers - just because there's no such thing!
If you would like to download the drive's firmware (which is the internal integrated software of the drive), look here. Do it at your own risk.

Best regards,
Pelu.

COMPAQ HP PAVILION NOTEBOOK WILL

This isn't a driver problem. Dust has entered the optical unit and has covered the lens. Try cleaning it with a fine q-tip and some compressed air . If even after a thorough cleaning the situation didn't improved then the dust was baked on the lens by the laser - nothing you can do, replace the unit.
