Check out this link to a thread. I bought a Sony SAWX-700. The light came on when plugged in. The guy said he didn't have a way to test it, but assured be the light was on and that it worked. I got home and it didn't. Did a search and found these posts. I followed them, ordred the parts and fixed it for like $10.00.Hope this helps! Bad output IC or voltage rectifier are the most likely at fault.

THI NOISE IS CAUSED BY A FAILING TRANSISTOR IN THE AMPLIFIER, AS THE TRANSISTOR FUNCTION COMES AND GOES IT MAKES A STATIC POP, U WILL NEED TO HAVE IT REPAIRED OR DEPENDING ON THE REPAIR COST REPLACED.

No way. It's glued and screwed from the inside.

A connection that goes bad when it warms up or the amp part of it is going bad....

The switching power supply transistors have shorted out. Other parts may be gone also. A difficult fix. Too bad, it's a great sub.

The problem may be with the preamp power supply section. Easy fix in most cases. This is a great sub, they don't build them this well anymore. From Sony, I was quoted around $200 plus the bad board in exchange. The part to fix it costs $1.00, labour an hour or less. Get it fixed. The other brands have gone cheap with components and build quality. Let me know if you want more info.

If you're using it first time, check the sub cable u're using, low-quality rca cables can easily pretend to act as an antenna and pick up parasite and hum from electric lines or from other devices, also another factor is too-long cable. If u're using a cable longer than 5m, it should be really hi-quality and well screened. Or the hum is inevitable. I hope this helps.
