Sony DAV-FC7 System Questions & Answers
Sony DAV-FC7 won't power on. I bought it new and have only had it for about 2 years.
I suspect you might have a power failure caused by an internal fuse. Fuses rarely just go on their own, so it might be caused by an overload, generally caused by a faulty output device.
If you have any knowledge to repair one or no someone who has you can or they can look around inside. Otherwise it's off to the repair shop with it. Unless you have a five year warranty on it or have paid for extra cover, then you will be liable for the full cost of the repair. If you have a five year cover or extended plan, contact the manufactory or the service plan provider. But do NOT open the unit yourself.
High-pitched sound when using surround sound
THANK YOU Guest (4/10/08)!!!
That was exactly what I needed! We have had our system for 4.5 years and suddenly, the FM feedback on everything, but DVD and Radio! Your fix helped. Once I set all my presets (at least the current one) to a clear station, the feedback stopped. Hallelujah!! We can enjoy this piece of junk once again! ;)

Unit will not read CD's.
This is a common problem with playing copied CD's. It burns out the readers on less expensive units.
Sony AV System DAV-FC7 cannot turn on
Now the solution (rather, a workaround) for this problem is power off the main supply (or remove the plug from the electrical outlet) and then plug it again. From now, on do not power off the unit. If you have to, then you need to perform the work around again.

My system power is intermittent. Won't turn on
Make sure all cords are properly connected if so then their might be a problem with the wiring... try moving the wiring up and down, and see if the power turns on when you do that.....
I have a Sony DAV-FC7
you will need a specialist repair man their is a problem with the switch but a micro chip recieves the order from the switch and then tells a transistor to switch power on ,its a bit beyond myself this problem but the sony agent will change a part and it doesnt cost a lot .
Goes into Standby, have to unplug to reset
You have to lift one pin of the mircoprocessor and solder in a resistor from that pin to a smd cap on the main board. This does require a lot of skill as if when lifting the pin on the mircoprocessor you break that pin.You then have to replace the mircoprocessor. I have done this mod to over 30 unit and i still every once in a while break that pin.Of course my expense now.I can give you value of resistor and points of soldering if you email me as this is not common knowledge.
Moved device, now not able to change sound fields,

Let me know if you have additional question.

Will not turn on
There is a mod that has to be done to prevent this problem which the average person can not due as you have to put a resistor from one spot to the another spot to a pin on the microprocessor. A shop that repairs Sony product will be aware of this mod.Usally takes about a half of an hour and a 10 cent part is required. repair will run around $100.00 if taken to a shop.
Won't play disc
Unit is old enough that the laser pickup may be worn out. Not an uncommon problem with older disc players. You may try to obtain the laser pickup yourself at someplace like MCM eletctronics
