Screen upside down
If the mouse is also operating inverted then the video has been rotated by the video software. You can fix that by going into the video setup (nVidia/ATI Catalyst/Intel) and finding the rotation feature and re-inverting the image. If the image is inverted, but the mouse moves normally on the screen, then you have a haunted PC and should run for the hills!

Technically, Yes. If there is damage to the wires but you know the AC-DC adapter is still good. There is a small single sided PCB inside the adapter that houses the transformer and step down/rectification circuit. There are two wires for the input (AC from wall which are hot and neutral) and two for the output which is your Ground and +18-19V (can't remember that particular voltage off the top of my head.) If you need to replace the plug that goes to the wall, check your plug type (the one that goes into the adapter) and order/buy a new one. That can be replaced with any plug that fits a desktop power supply. If you need to replace the plug that goes into the computer THEN you'll have to open the Adapter box. The two wires coming out of the board into the cable can be de-soldered. Just make sure you purchase the correct size/type tip (plug) for your computer and solder the positive and negative in where you removed the ones attached to the damaged cable.
Once you have soldered your new cable onto the motherboard, use a good epoxy to seal the box back together. They are not "user servicable" therefore, there are no easy to snap on/off clips, you will have to use a good adhesive. Also, TEST YOUR OUTPUT BEFORE PUTTING IT IN YOUR COMPUTER!!! Read the bottom of the Adapter and see whether the center of the plug is positive or ground, connect your DC voltmeter accordingly and make sure that the output voltage matches what the adapter says. It may be .2-.3V higher than what the adapter says because there is no load (your laptop) on the output but as long as it's no further off than that, you're good!
Good Luck!
PS: There are capacitors in the adapter circuit that can hold a VERY large charge and potentially hurt or kill you! You can also completely destroy your power adapter if you do not know what you are doing. Find a couple of youtube videos on the subject, there's tons of 'em. I am not responsible for anything that you attempt without having the proper skillset. For anyone handy with a soldering iron and familiar with electrical circuits, it's an easy fix.
BLACK SCREEN ON MY ACER 5532
Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. I would like to know when you turn the laptop on is it running? Can you see the light that indicates that it is on?
We need to check if this is caused by a LCD or motherboard issue. If you can connect an external monitor on your computer and tap FN + F5. This will toggle the display. If you will be able to see the display on the external monitor it means that the problem is the LCD but if not then the problem is the video graphic that is embedded to the motherboard and to be able to fix it is to replace the motherboard itself.
Please let me know if you have questions. Thanks for using Fixya.
Don't have a camera icon how do i get to icon, have roll type cam/wsound jack activated
If you are using a recent Windows operating system, right click on the Start Button/Icon on the lower left of your screen at the end of your tool bar then click Properties. You will have a window pop up that should have three tabs. The left most tab (top of the window) says taskbar. Select that. Once that is open, click "Customize" (it won't have parentheses) which will give you a window with options of what icons should appear and when. Just find your camera and select when you want the icon to be visible and click Apply (or OK, depending on your OS) and you should be all set.
You can also make sure that the device is powered on, when you connect it and if there is an installation disk that came with the device, be sure to use that. Always start installing a new device WITHOUT the device connected and follow directions until it tells you when to attach it.
GOOD LUCK!
