2. Press and hold SETuntil the Red Light blinks twice, then release SET.
3. Locate the code for your device in Manufacturer's Codes on the back of this user guide. Brands are listed in alphabetical order with the most popular codes listed first.
4. Enter the first five-digit code for your TV. If you perform this procedure correctly, the Red Light will blink twice
NOTE: If you enter an invalid code, the red light will display one long blink and exit the programming mode. Repeat steps 2 to 5 with a valid code.
5. Aim the remote control at your TV and press Power once. The device should turn off. If it does not respond, repeat steps 2 to 4, trying each code listed for your brand until you find one that works. If it still does not work, try Searching For Your Code.

The box is probably because you have closed-captioning turned on and set to "text" mode. Check the TV remote control for a button marked "CC" or "CAPTION" or something similar. Press the button to cycle through captioning options until you get to "OFF". This should clear up the trouble.

What's happening is that in text mode, the TV blanks out the area on the screen where the text should go, but there's nothing to display. Text mode isn't widely used, but in some markets it's used to display weather or other information. What sometimes happens is that the caption button on the remote gets pressed and you don't know the TV is set to text mode until the box starts coming up. And it doesn't happen on every channel, or even all the time on the same channel, so it can seem very random.

I have the same trouble with my 32" Panasonic. Remote is gone on TV.
Going to TRY to use a DTV converter box on it IF I can get channel 3 to work!

on this transformer there should be two adjustment controls very carfully adjust the bottom one, do not adjust to far as picture will have fine white lines on it

It seems you have no connection with the channel. I think you need to double check your on the right channel and that you have your freeview/channels paid and attended for. This to me seems like a connection problem but it happens to me on my tv if I go onto the wrong channel e.g. DVD channel instead of normal telly channel.

If you are connecting your DVD and VCR to the TV using Scart leads, simply go into TV input option on your tv remote and switch to AV1 or AV2. i.e AV1 for VCR or AV2 for DVD player.

Had same problem Sylvania SRT2232s 32"had to keep powering on and off until it warmed up enough to finally stay on. Problem was the 100/50 & 1/50 filter cap took it to local repair total cost to fix was 74.52 works better than ever

this way you can ensure if the infrared is emited normally from your remote control, afterwhat you can decide what to do.

instead of blaming the tv set, why dont you try to see the infrared emited from the remote control. maybe it's not emiting normally. usually the problem come from the remote control, not the tv set.

It depends, if tv has control buttons labeled like AV, Source, Input that can be used to change input of tv from tv to av-1 or av-2 etc.
Let me know exact model number written at back of your tv including its brand to provide you more info.
