Clear Channels

On SOME of these radios, you can hold down the #2 key and the #9 key at the same time that you turn the radio on, and it resets all data in the scanner. Let me know if that works.

Cant stop squelch

first take your scanner away from its currant soroundings and try it in someone elses house cause there is so much interference out there eg worn electric motors in fridges or heating pumps or plasma tv and certain 30" and above tvs, that one could even come from nerxt doors tv. next thing to try is put in an earth spike directly from the scanner to the ground ( has to be mud) or move your arial but try it elsewhere first then youl know if its in or close to your house.

How can i stop the squelch ive tryed turning the sqcuelch doesnt help

Plug the AC adapter into the back of the scanner and into a wall electrical outlet. Screw the antenna into the receptacle on the back of the scanner (extend the antenna to full length for best reception).
  • 2 Set the squelch level to allow signals to be heard by turning the squelch knob counterclockwise. Rotate the volume knob clockwise until you hear static. Slowly turn the squelch knob clockwise until the static noise disappears.
  • 3 Start programming frequencies into the scanner by pressing the "Manual" button.
  • 4 Press the up arrow or down arrow key until the channel you wish to program is visible on the display.
  • 5 Use the numbers on the keypad to enter the frequency for the local transmitter you wish to receive.
  • 6 Press the "E" key to complete the process of entering the frequency.
  • 7 Repeat steps 3 through 6 for each additional frequency you wish to monitor.
  • 8 Press the "Scan" key to start the scanning process. The scanner stops on a channel when it detects a signal strong enough to hear over the squelch setting. Two seconds after the signal stops, the scanning process resumes.

    4. Now press the "E" button to enter the frequency into that channel.

Bearcat BC144XL Scanner ~ no sound

Try it with an external speaker. The external speaker jack receives the audio from the scanner before it goes to the internal speaker. If the jack thinks there is still something plugged into it, the audio to the internal speaker is interrupted. If the jack is stuck, it may still work with an external speaker.
