Emerson EWD2204 DVD Player/VCR - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
How to zoom with remote
Unfortunately your particular player does not have the zoom function built into it. The only way you will be able to zoom your picture is if your TV has that functionality built in.
I'm trying to hook up my dvd player to my tv
If you have HD TV it is best to hook up the DVD player separately.
The easiest way to connect this is to find the cable going from the receiver to the TV and disconnect it from the TV. Connect this cable to the back of the DVD player where it says "in" or "input".
Next take another cable and connect it from the DVD player output to the TV. Make sure your TV set is tuned to the correct channel and input and you're all set. If you need further assistance please reply here and I will see to it this gets resolved.

On ANY dvd I put
I would say yes - it might be time to replace the whole unit. It sounds like the laser has failed completely in this player or is too weak to read the signals from each disc that is inserted. The problem is this part is not repairable at any level, it would need to be replaced, but this is not economical (assuming the parts are available), due to the expensive added labour costs involved.
In the long term, it is cheaper and easier to simply buy a new unit (combos still exist and the replacement unit does not need to be brand spanking new in a box either - but a manufacturer refurbished one with a warranty is acceptable if you can find such a unit).
Since this is not a DVD recorder, nor is it a Blu-Ray player, it might be time to put this one to bed - but you can always submit it to a service centre for a quote on the likely cost(s) and get a second opinion - then you will know for sure where you stand.
Only replace the combo unit as a last resort.
Remote will not work.
Hello
Check the remote contro for its infrared emission. You can check it with a cellphone with camera option. Put the cellphone to camera mode, and place the remotes' front end towards its lens, at about one feet away from it, and press each button on the remote control. If there is infrared emission from it, you can see its image on cellphone camera screen. If not check the remote control. Check the battery polarity. If it is alright, you have to open it to see whether there is any loose soldering points developed or not.
If ther is infrared emission from the remote, and still the TV doesn't respond to it, surely the infrared sensor inside the TV is faulty, and should be replaced with same type and number. OK.

Ejects cassette and powers off makes loud noise
A very likely situation could be that the VHS DECK ASSEMBLY has a jam or a problem. Remove the case of the unit and check for any damages or loose mechanisms, if all works ok and looks ok, slowy , carefully put a tape into the unit and see if there are any jams or anything stopping it from moving.
