I have an emachine T2642

A desktop machine does not have a battery, only a power supply. Unless you are talking about the motherboard battery which is located on the motherboard inside the desktop, but if that is the case I highly suggest having someone at a local shop swap out your battery. Making a mistake could ruin the motherboard.

All my wires in my monitor r unhooked where they

If your wires are unhooked, Usually new monitors wires are colour coded , for example, blue to blue, yellow to yellow etc.
If your wires are not colour coded, There is only one way the wires can go, They won't fit just anywhere. If they fit into one connector, then that will be where it needs to go.

Hope this helps

What are the hardware requirements

Jeff, some of the system's ram memory is being borrowed. If you are using Integrated Graphics, this is where it is going.

[Integrated Graphics is also known as OnBoard Graphics.
On the motherBoard.

The GPU is soldered to the motherboard. (Hence you plug the monitor cable into the motherboard, via a VGA connector,

E-Machines T2642 PC Desktop from mother board 3

Sorry you are having trouble.
Led's have a + and a - side.
With a magnifying glass you should be able to see where each one goes on the board. Start with pwr s/w. when you have it on the right pins then you can push the button and turn it on. I have done with with a screwdriver and quickly touching two pins at a time until it comes on.
Next the power LED. This one should be on all the time.
Last id hdd LED. This one will only be on when HDD is active and reading or writing.
The connector you are looking for is normally in the right hand corner opposite the power supply and has all the wires from the case going to it.

Emachines T2642 Motherboard

It's either a dead power supply or a fried motherboard. Emachines are cheap junk, their power supplies and motherboards die all the time, just look around here on Fixya for proof. Instead of saving a buck, consider buying a better brand.

Emachine t5026 not power on. replaced psu.

I would test the memory. Also I think some computers will shut down if the fan on top of the CPU quits working. Or maybe one of the other fans or the Hard Drive quit and is drawing too much juice causing the PSU to shut down. It sounds like something may be grounding.

Old emachine T2642 will not

It sounds like a dead motherboard. Try removing the CMOS(BIOS) battery and replacing it. Then try removing and replacing the CPU as well. If you get the same result then you might be looking at replacing the motherboard.
