Power indicator light is blinking, system

Possible that PC is hanging up as there is fault on the OS ( operating system) or a virus in the OS. Also it is possible that the back up( CMOS) has low voltage or the memory card is a suspect. In this case you need to check the voltage and also try and swap a memory card. If not the OS is a suspect.

It is best to go for a paid antivirus software which you can get in a package. Personally we are not recommending any particular company but you can try with Avira, Antivir, AVG, Kaspersky. It is always best to install the antivirus when the installation of the OS is done.

Now before this you can open the internet options in the browser and clean all the cookies, temporary internet files, defragment the drives and RESTORE the PC to an earlier set date.

You can use a registry cleaner like Advanced system care. Download from the site and check you system for corrupt files. Also use a good antivirus software which is active to keep your system performing without an attack on the OS. Remove all unnecessary programs installed which you do not use all the time and clean up the drives. This will free up the space and make your system faster. If there is no response but the PC tends to work slower and occasionally hanging when a program is being executed then you might have to install the OS once again. Install the OS and then an antivirus before the drivers of the PC is installed.

Thank You for using Fixya

How many watts does an Emachines w4685 put out?

Just a standard Power Supply will work for this machine. Roughly 400W will do it, there about $30-$40.

I need to know what colored wires go where on my customers PC hdd led/ power sw/ and power led

the only reason to have removed them was to switch the board or put the board in a new case..if you put a new board the new board is what you have to go by, look in the book, or take the number off the motherboard and go to yahoo and type in schematic for xxxxx board.
DO NOT go by emachine model as its worthless, too many models have different hardware.
This is all basic repair 101, how do you have customers? lol

Verify that the keyboard is connected properly to the computer by turning off your computer and then disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard to the computer. Stuck key Ensure that there are no stuck keys on the keyboard. If all keys appear to be ok and you have a standard desktop computer with keyboard, turn the keyboard over and gently hit the back of the keyboard to loosen any dirt or hair that may be stuck in the keyboard. Bad keyboard Try another keyboard on the computer to verify that the keyboard has not gone bad. I received a notice that I qualified for a bonus, but I can't activate it because there is no submit button. I have had the same problem trying to place an order. What can I do?

a notice via e-mail ? That is likely a scam/virus-redirect attack...with the 'submit' button being the attack. Your Anti-virus program may have automatically removed the malicious link for you so you would not have infected yourself.....

E640 REBOOT

Hi John,I see you mentioned you update IE9 then you now get a blank screen...If I may ask the blank screen showed up after the update or did it show up after restarting the computer? If your getting a Blank screen when you boot into windows after the IE9 update, try rebooting then boot into Safemode.Restart you computer then as soon as you see the Boot screen of you computer keep on Tapping f8 to get a list select safemode, then once it boots into safemode windows will load up in safemode on the issue and you can navigate arround to fix things that went wrong.click on the Start Button on the lower left of the task bar then, click on Programs, select accessories then select system tools, look for system restore then select the option select a different restore point, on the window you may see a list of restore points hoping your system restore was turned on in the very beginning, once you have selected a restore point keep on clicking next then a warning will show just click next again then it will restart your computer.System restore allows you to restore to a date where you had windows working fine without any problems so if you can get a restore point before updating IE9 then it is possible that you may be able to fix you windows back the way it was.I hope that this will help, michaelvincentc

Emachines t5212 overheat message then shuts down

Three causes of ovheating:1) Dust. Dust inside the computer, Dust around the vents, fans, cpu and heat sink. Take a can of compressed air and clean the dust out of the computer.2) A Fan not working. Make sure the fan inside the Power Supply where you plug the power cord in works. Also there is a fan that sits on top of the CPU and Heat Sink. Make sure it works. Normally the system will give you an error message if the fan is not working.3) Thermal Paste - The Thermal Paste around the cpu and heat sink has dried up or is too thin to keep the unit cool. Apply a fresh coat of Thermal Paste on the CPU and Heat Sink.

I have an eView 17f3 computer monitor that was

well that is 17,000 volts there 17kv and can be lethal . CRT is cathode ray tube and 2nd anode is 17kv, 1kv per inch screen.. we use a chicken stick to discharge that. one guy gut hit here and flew across the room ,hit head and next up paramedics deep.. not fun to see that. ive taking 600v but never again. vaccum seal, why do that.??? send it to the , toxic lead recycle center, let them do the danger work when I was only 16yo I worked in TV shop and I had do that "nnipp" that in the bud on all CRT sent off to refurb. (or toxic trash) (we sold them all here, you name it) we had to remove the socket there find he glass bud there dead center and full PPE, and snap it with wire cutters and it sucks in air fast. later in military too on old radar scopes, i worked . the vacuum inside is pure and prefect, zero gasses. implosion hazard exists. a glass flies in the bounces out and hits you and then next up blind i one eye. leave CRT alone to the trained.

CPU fell on floor now windows won't load. How can I tell if he'd is hosed or can be fixed?

to boot a cd then you must have the bios set to allow it, or tap f12 immediately to intercept boot menu and choose cd. sounds like your drive has a few bad disk sectors.

Hi i have emachine 8230 tower

firstly lets think why a Working pc would no longer BOOT. The boot process then. a pc starts the bios which POST's. this results in ONE BEEP which might be followed by messages(if you get several beeps then they are like morse code long/short and count out an error code). when you get your ONE BEEP the pc is working. when it then HANGS(appears to do nothing) its usually because of either a) the cd drive is duff so disconnect its cables. b) the hard drive is duff so disconnect its cables c) the hard drive hasnt quite died yet but has some very slow sectors and is making the Clackety Clack of the heads recalibrating every few seconds. d) there could be a a gpu card bios glitch and your pc is running but you just have a blank screen. some hints then 1) never start removing parts as that corrupts the CMOS(the battery backed up configuration for your BIOS) so you may need to clear your cmos. 2) never play with the idea of changing ram sticks as people usually end up putting them in any old slot(which may result in a non working pc). make sure a PAIR is fitted in slots 0/2 and a separate matching pair in 1/3 slots not in slots 0/1 which is two half pairs. Other factors. 1) a short circuit. your PSU has built in protection, if the psu fan(inside case of the psu) turns and kicks back and immediately stops you have a short circuit and its cuts the power to avoid a fire/meltdown, which could be caused by high wattage gpu(>60 watts) without its extra power cables fitted or wrongly connected front usb cables or removing a mainboard and fitting it into a new box where the board has its support posts NOT lined up with the holes fro the screws so the post is touching underside of the board circuits. hope some of that helps.

Want to get rid of scenario mode

Unfortunately, without a specific model number for your monitor, this may vary from the manual I am referencing. Just the same, I should say the link should at least have enough similarities to get you out of a scenario mode, and into the custom configurations (that I am assuming you are after). The steps begin on the bottom of page 5. http://global-download.gateway.com/GDFiles/Document/User%20Manual/User%20Manual_Acer_1.0_A_A.zip?acerid=634321354437313817&Step1=MONITOR&Step2=FLAT%20PANEL&Step3=E182HL&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=EMACHINES&SC=PA_6E If you are using a similar model, clicking on the menu button will bring you in the OSD menu where you can customize the brightness, contrast, etc. Any changes will become a "custom" mode that will effectively take you out of anyone of the scenario modes. I have seen monitors that do not allow much customization (if any) outside of the scenario modes. You may find specifics if you search the monitor model number itself. If you post that information in the comments I can help you find info more specific to your display. 26036777-s3re1a4em3ul4plxlhbwewwp-4-0.jpg

Myemachine model EL1360G-UW11P stopped working after I cleaned it I took the back cover off and the fan but after I put it back together it started to have abeeptypenoise butwasntabeepitwascontinuous

Knowing the beep pattern will help diagnose the issue. Power on the computer again and listen for long beeps and/or short beeps. There are other possibilities, but if you just cleaned out the computer, I suspect you might have dislodged a memory stick. Make sure they are seated completely and the white tabs are locked securely in place. The beep code you hear will ultimately help determine where the failure is happening.
