E-Machines T2792 PC Desktop is

There are many things that could contribute to a slower system.

Heat could play an obvious factor. If the CPU is too hot, it will perform at a lower level than normal. If it gets very hot, it will shut itself down automatically. Heat can also place other components under stress, causing them to perform slower. Have you cleaned your PC recently? Dust buildup is a major cause of overheating.

Hard drives lose performance with age. If your drive has a flaw, it will experience problems much more rapidly than its better-constructed couterparts. You can use a program such as HDDHealth ( http://www.panterasoft.com/ ) to determine what sort of problems could be occurring with your hard drive. You should also try to defragment the hard drive (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Defragmenter), which will improve speed.

Memory is a big factor in computer speed. Memory saves information from all the programs you are running. If you press Ctrl+Alt+Del to open task manager, and select the 'performance' tab, you can see how much memory your computer is using. If it is high compared to what you have, that may be contributing to the problem. Switch to the 'processes' tab and look at any processes that are using a lot of memory. If you know that do not need them, close them.

The T2792 is an old system, meaning that it will struggle to run more recent applications and programs. If you are trying to run modern-day editing software or games, your computer probably cannot handle the load. The chances of something going wrong with a component continually increase with the age of the computer, too.

EmachinesT2792 Can the floppy drive be replaced with out removing

You should be able to replace the floppy drive from within the computer case. Open the case be removing one side, unplug the ribbon cable connecting the floppy drive to the motherboard and the power cable connecting it to the power supply, and slide out the floppy drive. There may be screws holding it in place that need loosened first.

Graphics resets to 8 bit graphics

Open up your case and reseat your graphic board. If this doesn't fix your problem then your graphic board has an issue. Unless you are using a top of the line graphic board then you would be better off replacing the board rather than trying to fix it. Most cards would have to be sent back to the manufacturer, and unless you have a warranty on the card the labor charge of $80-$100 an hour would end up costing you more than the card is worth.,

I need help restoring my

Go to start menu -> Click on all programs -> click on Emachine ->click on Emachine recovery management -> Click on restore on the bar across the top ->click on restore to system factory default. This will take some time and reset your Computer to factory default. Note:- This will erase all your data also so create backup if anything important is there before you reset to default. If this process doesn't work for you or you dont find the option then Use the disk bundled with PC to restore/reinstall Windows.

Windows Installation Lock-up

I would re-do the re-install. It didn't finish .. It isn't complete. It is always a good idea to have nothing and I mean NOTHING attached to your computer when doing an install/re-install except monitor, keyboard and mouse. Was the GeForce in it originally (not that it really matters)

E-Machines T2792 (Windoes XP Home) Shuts down

Check your program list and see if there is an emachines backup or restore CD creation application. Most recent computers did not come with disks. Instead, the user needs t create their own. If you've never created a set, you might be in luck. Directions should be on their website.

the above posted some possibilities.
most likely candidates are either failing power supply (a cheap replacement...30 bux or so) or overheating
is there lots of dust on the cpu fan? which fan is not spinning, one on the cpu or motherboard?
of if the above done work then its a bad board and you gotta buy a new one ;\

Getting power but wont boot up or anything

pull out everything in the computer except what's required to boot...so any pci cards or video cards (if you have onboard video). you can also try pulling out the ram (while unpowered AND unplugged) and then booting to hear beeps...if you pull the ram out and the computer doesnt make a sound, its probably a bad motherboard and needs to be replaced. if you hear beeps, try replacing the ram or disconnecting other parts...like harddrives, optical drives, modems and what not.

Emachines 2792

pull the power plug as soon as the emacines logo comes on
and if that doesn't work pull out the power as soon as the first windows logo screen comes on. it should then come on and give you the option to start in safe mode or regular mode, choose safe mode then after it comes on in safe mode restart the cpu
then it should come on in regular mode i don't know why it works for my emachines cpu but it does . i'm looking at downloading a error fixing program because i'm doing this almost when ever i turn off my cpu hope this helps if not reformat your hard drive andput windows on again it worked last time i had this problem.
