I'm buying an emachine em350,

External is the only way to go on this unit. Check www.officedepot.com or www.ebay.com . Should be less than $50. You could try ebay but the shipping will probably be $10...Just plug into one of the USB ports and you are good to go.

Can you play PC DVD

Based on the one and only specs sheet I could find for this model of emachine, it does have a DVD-ROM drive. So in theory it can. Does the unit play DVD Movies? if yes then it should work, try rebooting and then putting the disc in again. I assume the disc is clean and scratch free as the game is new.

If the OS on your computer has ever been reinstalled, you may be missing the driver for the drive, in which case windows would treat it as a generic CD-ROM drive, and not be able to read DVDs, you can get the drivers for the drive from the emachines website if this is the case.

Cd will not eject

in most cases the rubber band that opens the tray breaks and needs to be replaced to get your cd out there is a small pin hole at the froint of the cd tray push a small pin into it and the tray will open to allow you access to the disc the take the player appart and replace the drive belt just at the front

best of luck

I am unable to connect a cd rom from an old pc to

Look on the mother board for a ribbon connector.. double row of pins.. Some boards will have a legacy connector. If not.. you can buy an adaptor to connect IDE CD to board,

BUT.. for about the same cost, you can buy a cheap new CD-DVD RW - burner.. probably with far better peformance than an old one. About $25 should do it.
