How to upload photos from my olympus mini s camera

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS TO COMPUTER If your photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

Wont turn on properly

Ive looked all over the internet for a solution to this very common problem. This is the only one that worked for me. When you turn on the camera the green led light comes on. Hold the camera in your right hand while you turn it on and as the lense comes out, bang the camera (lens facing down)against your left palm repeatedly until you notice the led light briefly turn red then green again. You need to do this every time you turn it on.I think shaking it loosens the jarred lens. This was the only solution I could find and although I was tentative about doing more damage this way, I tried it and it works.

Cover card open when it's shut

This problem is caused by the little piece of plastic that you flip down to hold the XD card in place. It has a nipple sticking out of it that is prone to breaking off. Unfortunately, this nipple (about 1/16" x 1/8" x 1/8") holds down a little button which tells the camera that the the plastic piece has been flipped down. Once the nipple breaks off, you need to find some other way to hold the button down.

I simply took a small plastic peg from an old boardgame -- a cribbage-board peg might work -- and whittled it down to fit the opening. Remove the XD card and you'll see the small 1/16" x 1/8" rectangular opening. There's a tiny, squarish black button inside. Use a toothpick or tiny screwdriver to carefully press the button in while the camera is on, and you'll see the error message disappear.

Once you get the idea, use a tiny Phillips screwdriver to remove the plastic piece that you flip down. There are two screws to remove, two little metal retaining brackets and a tiny metal rod. Be careful not to lose any of these pieces! Then gradually whittle your piece of plastic so it fits the rectangular opening snugly, and consistently turns off the error message. Then cut it to about 1/8" in length, insert it into the opening, and reassemble the rod, brackets and screws to hold it in place.

Now the little button will always be pushed in and the camera will be functional once again. Since the XD card has its own spring-loaded "locking mechanism" (you push to insert and push to remove), the piece of plastic you flip down isn't really needed in the first place. You can save it, anyway, just for the memories....

Maintain all-weather capability

The camera loses its weatherproof capability if the battery compartment cover, connector cover or DC-IN jack cover is open. Make sure that all the covers are closed before using the camera. Wipe any water off the camera before changing the battery or card. If the camera gets splashed, wipe the water off as soon as possible with a dry cloth. Salt-water spray or droplets can cause damage to the camera if the camera is not wiped dry as soon as possible. Do not apply excessive force to or attempt to peel off the rubber packing of the battery compartment cover, connector cover or DC-IN jack cover. If the rubber packing becomes worn or damaged, contact your nearest Olympus service center. If the rubber packing of the battery compartment cover, connector cover or DC-IN jack cover contains dirt or sand, wipe it off before closing the cover. The rechargeable battery and other camera accessories are not weatherproof. Care should be taken when using the accessories.

Olympus stylus 1 just froze with lens extended. I took battery and card out for 2 hrs. and still no power.

Try this, set the dial to P, then open the battery door and then press the Menu button and OK button together for about 5 seconds. If you see something in the screen like Olympus? Then press the Menu and OK button together again for another 5 seconds, this is a hard reset and hope it fixes your problem?
