Digital camera quite working
Check out the pins in the base of the card chamber- are any missing or bent?
Next check out Mirror action- is it working?
Try to get onto the Olympus Tech Support team.
If it is broken I think a repair will not be an option- the cost if possible will be well on the way to the next camera
This is my camera too - lovely under rated beasts
Focus works intermittently
You say intermittent start up issue.
So it is occasional and eventually settles down.
Could be a lens contact not quite making it.
Have you tried removing the lens and refitting?
You also address the problem to Olympus Tech Support- may be something they know about
Self Timer Won't Work
If you get to the menu part for the timer controls (by pressing more to the right with the 4-way key), slect either 2 or 10 secs with the OK button at the lower riht part of the 4-way key. keep pressing the OK button (about twice more) and you observe that the menu goes back up to a higher hierarchy until it is in the main menu. you have to make sevral Oks - hope it yelps!
EVOLT Body
No, the EVOLT body, Zuiko Digital 14-45mm F3.5-5.6 and 40-150mm F3.5-4.5 lenses are not splash proof.
Playback modes
There are playback modes such as single-frame, Index (you can select the number of frames to display on the monitor from 4, 9 or 16 frames), Close-up (2x through 10x magnification), Slideshow (display the stored images one after another in succession) or playback images by rotating.
Image adjustment functions
SHARPNESS - The function is to adjust sharpness of capturing images.
CONTRAST - The function is to adjust contrast (distinction between light and dark) of capturing images.
SATURATION - The function is to set color depth of capturing images.
GRADATION - In this function, you can select the brightness of an entire image. It is suitable when you want to add a brighter effect to a bright object (Hi Key) and a darker effect to a dark object (Low Key).
Remote cable release
The remote cable RM-CB1 can be connected to the power battery holder HLD-3. The RM-CB1 remote cable cannot be connected to the camera body directly.
Detection range of metering
In Digital ESP metering and Center Weighted Averaging metering, the detection range is EV2 through EV20. In Spot metering it is EV3 through EV17 (50mm F2, equivalent to ISO100).
Metering modes
There are three metering modes: Digital ESP, Center Weighted Averaging and Spot.
DIGITAL ESP - The camera meters and calculates the light levels or light level differences in the center and other areas of the image separately.
CENTER WEIGHTED AVERAGING - The metering mode provides the average metering between the subject and the background lighting, placing more weight on the subject at the center.
SPOT - The camera meters a very small area around the center of the subject, defined by the spot metering area mark in the viewfinder.
Focus modes
There are four focus modes: S-AF (Single auto focus), C-AF (Continuous auto focus), MF (Manual Focus), and S-AF/MF (Simultaneous mode).
(SINGLE Auto Focus): Focusing is performed once when the shutter button is pressed halfway.
C-AF (CONTINUOUS Auto Focus): The camera repeats focusing while the shutter button is pressed halfway.
(MANUAL FOCUS): The function allows you to manually focus on any subject while looking through the viewfinder.
SIMULTANEOUS USE of S-AF mode and MF mode: You can fine-adjust focus manually by turning the focus ring after AF is performed in the S-AF mode.
Bundled Eye Piece Cover
The Eye Piece Cover is the cover that attaches to the viewfinder. The eye piece cover prevents light from entering the viewfinder when shooting with your eye away from the viewfinder.
